150 part 2 - Old Friends

*JOSH'S POV*

Josh: "How am I just supposed to compete, dude."

Josh had been hiding out there since he left to play basketball. He felt bad lying to his girlfriend but he was scared and hurting. The drinking was only supposed to help. Josh continued as his bottle sloshed around, almost spilling:
"She has Chase on this pedestal and it's like he can do no wrong."

Cooper: "Yeah but dude, she's with you. Gotta mean something, right?"

Josh: "I know and when its good, it's really good but it always feels like there's some secret between them that no one talks about."

Cooper: "Do you think they're hooking up?"

Josh: "Not anymore or anything but right before we became official. there was one night..."

Cooper: "That's tough but honestly... I know it's hard being involved with someone where things are messy but you just have to ask yourself if it's worth it."

Josh: "What do you know about messy? You literally met a girl at a party a month ago and now she's obsessed with you. You don't have to wonder if she's secretly in love with some other guy."

Cooper's response was interrupted by the front door opening and Nessa walking in. Both boys turned with a look of surprise.

Cooper: "Wh- what are you doing here?"

Nessa looked at Josh and muttered out:
"I- Uh- I was actually looking for Josh."

Josh: "Me?"

Cooper looked between Josh and Nessa, confused. He had been on the verge of confessing something to Josh but it was too late for that now.

Nessa: "Have you talked to your girlfriend?"

Josh: "She sent you here to spy on me?"

Nessa gulped out of guilt that she wasn't being entirely honest with him, but then blurted out:
"Of course not. I just got off the phone with her. She's freaking out. Why aren't you there with her?"

Josh shook his head, dismissively:
"She's probably with Chase. She doesn't need me there."

Nessa took one look at all the empty bottles and sighed:
"It would serve you right if she was."

Josh popped the lid off of another and Nessa pushed past Cooper to yank it out of his hand. She turned back and mumbled, sarcastically:
"Really? This was what you decided to do with your night? Nice."

Josh answered for Cooper:
"I don't need you or her or anyone to tell me how to handle any of this. I'm a grown man-"

Nessa tossed the bottles in the garbage and snapped:
"Did you know she got another letter tonight? Did you know you're abandoning her when she needs you most is pathetic? Bet you didn't know that if she ends up back with Chase it'll be your own d*mn fault and no one would blame her because her boyfriend is acting like an overgrown, bratty, man-child!"

Josh: "She got another letter? Oh, God. I have to go-"

Nessa interrupted his focus by snatching his keys off of the table just as he reached for them:
"You can't drive when you've been drinking. I'll take you."
