You'd been at the apartment for the better part of an hour as everyone tried to keep you distracted from the one person missing.
Chase: "Do you want me to get you girls some food?"
Nessa looked over at you and smiled before answering him: "I think that'd be nice. Chinese?"
He opened the door to leave and Josh was standing with his hand on the doorknob about to enter. You jumped up and threw your arms around his neck: "Oh my God. You're here!"
Josh pulled you even closer because he knew the one thing that you didn't seem to be able to believe... that he couldn't stay away if he tried. Emma, Jaden, and Nessa all three made an excuse to set the table in the other room to give you and Josh space to talk.
You: "I never meant to keep that part of my life from you."
Josh: "Then why did you? I opened up to you... about everything I'd been through with Noah, Nessa, my family. And it just feels like one secret after another with you."
You hung your head in shame because you knew he was right: "I just- I have so much uncertainty surrounding my semester at college and it's easier to pretend it never happened than face the fact that I don't know what happened and might never."
Josh: "There's nothing else you need to tell me?"
Your response was interrupted by your phone ringing. Everyone gathered around, hanging off of your every word though you gave nothing away in your state of shock. When you finally hung up, they all sat at the edge of their seats as you finally spoke: "It was the prosecutor's office. The judge made a decision."
Jaden: "That's good right? A quick decision means that he isn't questioning anything you girls said."
Nessa: "I don't know if that's how it works but God, I hope so."
Chase walked back in carrying bags of takeout. Jaden quickly filled him in: "The judge called. He's made a decision."
Chase sat down the bags: "Oh my God. What did he say?"
You fumbled over your words: "I- I don't- He-"
Nessa picked up her phone and read off the message she'd just received and answered: "He wants everyone in the court at 8 am sharp for his ruling."
Bryce: "Come on guys. There's nothing to stress about tonight. Let's just eat as a family and let tomorrow's worries come tomorrow."

Josh wrapped his arms around you and reiterated Bryce's advice: "He's right. Let's eat, baby. Do you want anything to drink?"
Nessa: "I need a drink alright."
The next morning the 4 girls crowded in around the prosecutor's table, but he was nowhere to be found. Nessa reached her hand across to grasp yours as you took a deep breath. Noah was brought in but instead of his defense attorney next to him, a sheriff stood guard over him.
