*CHASE'S POV*

She was loading the last box in the back of Bryce's borrowed truck along as he watched out the window. Chase was trying to understand why she kept making such big moves without telling him but it was hard. He knew he hadn't been the best friend lately either, so he decided to fix that by jogging over to see if she needed any help.

Chase: "Hey! Why didn't you tell me you were coming to move your stuff out."

She was trying to hide the fact that she was tearing up but he knew better and pulled her into a hug as she explained:
"I didn't have much notice. I only decided today was the day about an hour ago. I'm sorry."

Chase: "It's okay. I just meant, I woulda come to help you."

She didn't pull too far away as she continued:
"I guess a part of me also didn't want to admit things were changing. I just can't be in that house anymore."

Chase: "I'll miss living next door to my best friend and being able to communicate by hand signals through our bedroom windows but I totally get what you're saying."

She laughed:
"You know most people just text and it works just the same."

Chase: "Oh hush. We both need to get better about letting each other in."

She pulled him back into a hug and he wondered if this was the right time to finally let her in on the secret he'd been keeping. He was just so afraid of ruining everything when she was already in such a fragile state. He couldn't live with himself if she left him now. Not when everything was so up in the air and if she cut him off of communication, he no longer had a guarantee of running into her as she came and went each day.

Yeah, he thought about confessing, but instead, he blurted out:
"I asked Jaden out."

His best friend's jaw was still on the ground as she spoke:
"Oh my God!! Why didn't you- Nevermind. Tell me everything!!!!"

They sat down on the back of Bryce's tailgate as Chase told her everything that happened at the party and after. He loved that he could confide in her anything and she just was always on his side.

Jaden: "After we snuck into your bedroom and I kissed him, I don't know, it just kinda snowballed from there."

She squinted her nose in fake disgust:
"You hooked up in my bedroom of all places?"

Chase pushed her, gently:
"No! Of course not. We haven't don't that. Not yet."

She smiled, a knowing smile:
"But it's on the table, I gather. Okay. I see you."

Chase: "I mean. I guess. He is my boyfriend now."

*END CHASE'S POV*

It was starting to get dark so Chase finally asked:
"Do you have anything more inside? I can help you load up more stuff. There's plenty of room."

You sighed: "No. My dad is being a jerk about letting me take my bedroom furniture."
