You and Emma were still deciding what movie to start with when Chase came in: “Hey guys! I’m glad you convinced me to get out of the house for a night.”

Emma: “Me too! Even if it was just to come and camp out in your house instead.”
You jumped up to hug Chase. You were so worried he wouldn't come but seeing him in your room again, your heart leaped from your chest to pull him into the tightest hug imaginable. Emma noticed you were a little more invested in Chase being there than just trying to set up two people but she didn't want to bring it up and overstep her new friendship.
Chase pulled back with a smile: "Okay, okay. I'm down for the movie and sleepover but if you start pulling out face masks, I'm dipping."
You all three laughed and settled into the first movie. You thought you’d caught Chase staring at you once instead of the movie, but when you turned towards him he coughed and quickly looked back at the screen. You kept glancing back at the door because you knew an important fourth person should be there any minute and you were nervous about how it’d all play out.
Almost as if on cue, Jaden walked in with an armful of snacks: “I come bearing goodies!"

You: "JADEN!!! You made it!"
Jaden: "Did you start the movie without me? Rude.”
Emma laughed: “Blame her. Her booooyfriend, blew their facetime off tonight so I think she needed a distraction.”
Chase mumbled only loud enough that Emma heard: "Typical."
You: "He did not blow me off. He's on a trip with his little brother and they are spending quality time together. Plus he's not my boyfriend."
Emma squealed with laughter: "YET!!!"

Jaden: “Things not going good with prince charming anymore?”
You grabbed the food out of his hand: “They are going just fine. Mind your business.”
Chase grumped: “I thought this was a best friend sleepover, not about boyfriends?”
You tossed him the bag of Butterfingers: “Exactly. But hey look what Jaden brought you!”
Chase caught the bag but looked more like he was having a Vietnam flashback than snagging his favorite candy.
Chase: “I- I actually have to get home. But- uh- we can do this another time, okay?”
You jumped up and tried to Chase after him but he turned abruptly to stop you in the hall: "Don't."
You: "Chase, please. I didn't mean to ambush you. Jaden and I are just friends and now that Emma and I are friends I thought it'd be fun if we could all be... well... friends. Please come back in."
Chase put his hand up to stop you and turned to leave while you sulked back into the bedroom.
Jaden: “I didn’t know Chase was coming. I told you I didn’t want to push him.”
You: “I just wanted us all to get along and be friends. Just stay and we can still have a good night just the 3 of us.”
