On the drive to the party, you asked Emma to pull up the address Bryce sent. She took one look at his profile pic and asked: “Geez. How many hot guys do you have in your pocket?”
You: "Bryce is definitely not in my pocket. We hung out one time and it was pretty clear from the get-go that we were definitely just friends.”
Emma: “Girl, quit playing. Every shift I swear a different crazy-hot guy just shows up to whisk you away.”
You: "It was only 2 guys and only Josh am I actually trying to make work. Jaden, the other guy actually has something going on with my best friend."
Emma joked: "Oooh you're cheating on me with another friend? What's her name."
You: "HIS name is Chase."
Emma: "Oh snap. I'm sorry. I am normally very progressive in not assuming genders and sexualities and stuff. Just caught me off guard bit either way... tell me more."
You: "I don't really know what he would call himself. I don't think he knows either. He says he likes girls and Jaden was just... I don't know... a confusion."
Emma: "I know some guys especially struggle with being bi. Society treats them like they aren't masculine enough for a girlfriend if they also like guys and it's honestly the worst."
You: "Well, whatever he decides, all I know is he's been such a blessing to me the last few weeks."
You spent the rest of the drive detailing your dating experiment, Chase's role in it, and how your history with Tayler inspired it all.
Emma looked on in absolute shock: “How long ago did you and Tayler break up?”
You: “About 5 months ago?”
Emma looked like she wanted to sink into the car seat: “I think I should tell you something…”

You pulled up at the address and parked behind the mass of cars. You put the car in park and prepared yourself for whatever Emma needed to confess: “Olivia has been hooking up with Tayler for almost a year.”
Your jaw dropped as Emma tried to soften the blow: “They aren’t dating or anything. It’s just… I don’t even know what it is but I know it’s not as serious as she wishes it was.”
That explained the torture you’d been enduring at work. Olivia was jealous that Tayler had dated you. You decided you wanted to just go inside and enjoy the party and forget everything Emma had just told you.
Emma rushed to catch up as she shoved her phone into her purse: “Wait. So you never really did anything with that Jaden kid or the best friend?”
You: “Nope.”
The truth is you had dreamed about what it would be like to be with either of them, multiple times but nothing had ever happened. Some dreams were way more vivid than others… including the one you’d had about Chase last week. THAT was a doozy.
