Sakura didn't sleep much the night before she was to leave the village. Her thoughts were scattered and her heart ached. Kakashi walked her home and ever the gentleman, kissed her goodnight before leaving her to her packing. She knew this mission was going to be an issue, but she wasn't sure how it would end. Sasuke wasn't into communication, so her best bet was that she was going to do most of the grunt work, while he meandered around, critiquing her from the shadows.

Morning came fast and Sakura grabbed her bag after she dressed for her long, dreaded mission. Walking out the door, she locked it and put an extra seal over the entrance to keep intruders away. Then she walked out of the building, saying goodbye to the owner, and letting them know she'd be gone for an undetermined amount of weeks. The owner wished her luck as she jumped to the roof to head toward the Hokage building.

Standing outside waiting, Kakashi and a couple of ANBU were chatting, as she jumped down from a nearby roof, and immediately ran into Kakashi's loving embrace. She normally wouldn't show too much PDA out in public, especially since she and Kakashi haven't decided to go public yet, and always used his Sukea disguise while dating, but she couldn't help herself. It did help that it was still early morning and most of the villagers were still inside their homes.

"Good morning Sakura," Kakashi whispered into her ear as they hugged. Sakura felt a shiver run down her spine and had to rein in her libido before she jumped the Hokage out in the open.

"Good morning Sensei," she giggled into his ear, hearing a low groan make its way from his throat.

"Ready for breakfast?" Kakashi asked as he held out his hand to her.

"Yes and no." She wasn't sure when she'd see him again, so yes she was ready to eat and make her way to Sasuke, but also no, she wasn't ready to eat then leave him for weeks.

Kakashi took her hand, paying no mind to his ANBU guard whistling low behind them. Once again, she was pretty sure it was Genma who made the sound, because the other ANBU, most likely Aoba, was shaking his head and pushing his friend to shut up. They made their way to a quiet little tea shop that was open for business in the early, morning hours, and took a seat at a small table inside.

Kakashi must have ordered ahead because the second they sat down, an elderly waitress, carrying a small tray of tea, along with rice, natto, miso soup, boiled eggs, and pickled vegetables, came out from behind a curtain, and laid the tray down on their table. She bowed politely and gave Sakura a saucy wink before retreating to the kitchen, which made her giggle.

"Did you plan this out Kakashi?"

"Hmm, maybe they just have really good customer service?" he replied jokingly.

Sakura shook her head and dug into their breakfast. After eating in comfortable silence, they both sat back and stared at each other longingly.

"I'm going to miss you," Kakashi admitted tenderly.

"I'll miss you as well. But I'll do my best to write to you as often as I can. It'll be in code, but please write me back. One of the biggest things that upset me about Sasuke, was his silence. Months of not hearing from him, even after all the letters I sent, really took a toll on me. Will you promise me that you'll write back?"

Kakashi reached over the table to grab Sakura's hands in his, leaning toward her, he whispered, "Nothing in this world will ever keep me away from you Sakura. No distance, no mission, and no man. You have my word that I'll stay in touch with you, even if it's short."

Sakura couldn't stop the tears building up in her eyes from flowing down her face. She hopes this mission will make their relationship stronger.
