Chris couldn't help, but look over his shoulder at the intimidating hovering parents behind him, well at least one of them. He was trying to pick out vegetables and maybe even a couple of cheap, almost expired meats, but with the blonde parent hovering over them, it was rather difficult. Angelo, I think his name was, was right behind him the whole time while the taller one held their small child. "Angelo" he called and the blonde haired man looked towards his husband. "You're making him uncomfortable" Angelo squeaked and stepped away, "S-sorry. M-Max?" Angelo looked towards the red haired boy who was clutching to Chris's hand a bit tightly. He held out his hand towards the boy and Chris could see Max hesitating towards the hand, before his own son Jerry interrupted.
With a loud slap, Jerry pushed Angelo's hand to the side and made an angry face. "You're making Maxi very uncomfurtuble" Jerry tried pronouncing and Chris could feel his chest tighten as the blonde haired man looked close to tears. "O-oh! M-my apologies!" Angelo turned around and immediately buried his face in his husband's chest. Lucifer sighed as Angelo silently cried into him, Faz patting his head, giggling to himself, thinking it was all a game. "Not my fault he didn't wanna go with you, though that little black haired squirt packs a punch" Lucifer scratched his chin in thought and interest. Angelo whined even further and kept his face hidden from them. Max who's mouth was hung open, kept staring at Jerry the whole time. Jerry, oblivious to what he did, kept walking and leading Max towards all the fine greenery.
Chris rubbed his face, he should've just gone to the organic market. "I wonder how Jamey's doing" He muttered to himself as he picked up a head of lettuce.

"And then he decided that he was too "cool" to be on lookout and decided to go rob some apples! So I was left on my own to rob the grapes. But guess what? I succeeded! Max didn't! And I had to bail him out! Like always, might I add" Alex crosses his arms, wincing a bit at the pain, but he was too worked up to be worried about it now. "So what does Max do? He runs! He runs off with the apples and now the lady is yelling at us." He sighs, taking in a breathe. "So then I start running, but... then these guys. They start chasing us, we had no idea who they were or what they wanted us for, but they chased us into the woods and managed to corner me. They beat me... like a lot" he gestured to all the bandages. "As you can see here" he laughed softly. "But what was hurting the most was that... Max abandoned me" he felt tears form in his eyes before wiping them. "H-he probably didn't even mean to" he rationalized.
"But the fact he... he didn't even come back for me. I was lucky enough to meet your dad. H-he... he's the coolest person I've ever met. I wish my dad was... that cool" Alex finished and wiped at his face, his tear ridden face as he told the story. Jamey, who listened intently and held onto every word Alex has said so far, was taking slow and long sips from his black tea. "I don't think it was Max's intent to leave you. He had a lot of scratch marks and even blood on his shirt. It seems to me that he had managed to get himself caught before escaping. When Jerry and I found him, he was muttering to himself and mentioning you. I think he wanted to go back, but he was too scared, too afraid. Fear keeps us alive. The only reason he couldn't go back for you was because he didn't have reenforcement, or even a weapon for that matter" Jamey finished and put his tea down. Alex picked softly at the bandages on his arm, "I... understand, but... it still hurt-" Jamey interrupted, "I don't doubt it. You have every right to be hurt, it's like when Jerry and I broke Chris's only vase and Jerry blamed it all on me because I'm the oldest" Alex looked up at him, "Yeah!! Little siblings think they can blame it all on the eldest because we're older" he yelled out in a huff, making Jamey smile, "And the adults always believe them"
Alex scoffed, "Right?! It's like our opinions don't matter! I didn't deserve lashings for letting the dog escape! It was Max who left the gate open! Dad even saw him, yet he still decided to ask!" Jamey looked at him, "why didn't you let him take the blame?" He replied, making Alex huff and look away, "I-I wanted to... but... the way that he had genuine fear in his eyes... I couldn't let him get the punishment" Jamey raised his hand, making Alex flinch, before settling it in his moppy red hair. "Because you love him right? Older siblings tend to do things for their younger siblings that even we don't want to admit. Even if you two are twins" Alex felt his face heat up, it was true, he loved Max more then anything and would never let anything bad happen to him. Even when he was getting beaten up, he was relieved to see Max wasn't there.
"Yeah..." he finally said, biting back a small noise of discomfort as Jamey took his hand back from his head. Jamey hummed softly to himself as he got up, "don't you feel better?" He asked as he took his cup and plate towards the sink, only to come back and grab his empty bowl and put it in the sink also. "Y-yeah" Alex admitted, grabbing onto his arms, a bit nervously. The only person that he ever talks strongly with his feelings were Max and maybe even his mother Angelo. Something about the green haired boy that really brought out his feelings, like he held a key to Alex's heart and he just opened it. "Hey um... I have a question" Alex looked towards Jamey. Jamey looked over in his direction and walked back over, "What's up?" He asks and Alex swallows.
"Are you a demon?" Alex asks softly and can feel Jamey's eyes on him, staring down at hi- "No" Jamey says without hesitation startling Alex. "O-oh! Well that's actually a relief-" Jamey crouched down, his dark red eyes piercing into Alex's soul. Jamey's mouth opens and he says two simple words:
"Are you?"
