Spoilers for the latest raws (55.5) in this chapter so watch out lads! It's super short, sorry, I kind of want more of the manga before I write anything longer for them.

Also, going to say this now, I've been getting a lot of negative comments in this book about vanijeanne and in particular jeanne as a character. I will be deleting these comments and I ask that you don't make them, not just because I am actually a fan of both those things but because I'd really rather if you did comment it was about the fics you are reading and/or vanoe. Leaving negative comments about other ships is not a good way of supporting or showing appreciation for my fics so please do not do it. There are better places to complain about characters and ships you don't like and you are free to do so but this here is not meant for that kind of thing. Thank you for understanding.

If I'm going to be killed, I want Noé to do it.

The words kept repeating in Noé's head. He didn't want to. Didn't even want to think about it. Vanitas dying... at his hands no less? After everything, was that really how it was going to end? Is that where they had always been heading? He closed his eyes, letting the water from the shower wash over him. He breathed deeply, thinking over the conversation again.

He hadn't been able to tell Vanitas he wouldn't do it. Vanitas had been so quiet and hesitant stating his wish, as though he didn't even deserve to hope for anything. There was no way he could look Vanitas in the eye and tell him it was wrong to want that.

Noé brushed some hair out of his face and a wet chuckle forced its way past his lips when he realised his hand was shaking. He didn't know if he had it in him. He hadn't with Louis, there was no way of knowing if he had changed enough in the years since. He wanted to be someone Vanitas could lean on, entrusting him with this was an admission of trust in Noé and a commitment to stay with him until the end. Noé felt awful that some small part of him was happy Vanitas had said it. After all it meant only death would part them.

"How romantic," He scoffed quietly, the water drowning out the sound.
