The next morning, the whole house was eerily quiet. Jennie decided to sleep in the guest room, wanting to have some space of her own and think it all through.

Y/N, on the other hand, was not sure of herself. She didn't know what to think of her situation. She knew that she had these severe headaches before too, but she couldn't pinpoint the reason for that.

After the talk last night, it all seemed clear to her. Her cancer was coming back and this time she might not live to see the end of it.

Descending towards the kitchen, Y/N saw Jennie behind the counter, buttering the toast for the breakfast.

"Good morning, Jen, "Y/N quietly said as she sat down in the chair.

Jennie brought the plate and a glass of fresh juice in front of her, replying, "Morning."

Y/N saw Jennie sitting in front of her, not beside her, as she started munching on her toast while scrolling through her phone. Sipping her juice, Y/N cleared her throat and said, "I took a day off today."

The statement made Jennie halt in her movements as she raised her head to look at her. She gave her a stoic expression and asked, "Why? Don't you have your work to do today?"

Y/N sighed and slid her hand across the table to rest it upon Jennie's, saying, "I have, but you're my priority and certainly I am not giving you enough time. I want to spend time with you today. Just you, me, and everything you want to do."

Jennie's eyes and expressions soften a bit and she asked, "Really?"

Y/N gave her a small smile with a nod, replying, "Yeah, Jen. I love you, so much. You know that, right?"

"Of course, I do! And about the last night..." Jennie's voice trailed off as she bit her lower lip in nervousness. She wanted to say something, something very important that could change their whole life.

"What is it, Jen?"

Jennie looked into her eyes and said, "Y/N, I am scared about you, scared about us. I want you to take the test... please."

Y/N stared at her for a few moments with a grim expression as she released a heavy breath, saying, "I took the appointment for this morning."

"When is it?"

"Ten."

Soon, it was 10 o'clock and they both were driving towards the hospital for the allotted appointment.

The whole time as Y/N drove the car, Jennie held her hand in hers, tightly, not wanting to let go. Y/N knew how nervous she felt, but she herself was more nervous about that. The thought that she might have to let go of her hand forever.

Just after a few more minutes of driving, they reached the hospital. Hands rigidly interlaced, they took the elevator to their floor in silence, not having enough courage to say something.

The elevator door opened and they both stepped out, making their way towards the doctor's office.

"Hello, Ms. L/N and Ms. Kim, "the doctor greeted both of them as they sat down in front of him.

"Dr. Jeon. How have you been?" Y/N asked, keeping her professional smile.

"I've been better. Thank you for asking. So, how may I help you today?" he asked with his polite, elderly smile.

Y/N kept her hand on the desk as she leaned forward, saying, "I want to take a Biopsy test."

Dr. Jeon's face contorted into a serious expression as he simply nodded, saying, "Come with me."
