"Erwin, I got those copies ready." You stepped into Erwin's massive office, carrying a thick stack of papers. The professor worked diligently behind his wide wooden desk, his focus only broken when you entered.
"Thank you. Bring them here." Erwin sat straight in his illustrious chair, his arms resting on the thick velvety armrests.
You walked across the huge dark green area rug, your footsteps muffled on the embroidered fabric. You placed the stack on the edge of his desk, then stepped back.
"Looks great. I'm sorry to make you run simple errands. Typically that's meant for the TAs."
"No worries! I'm just an intern, I'm not that great or anything."
"I'd rather you spend your time learning about the environment, though. Babysitting a printer isn't beneficial at all." Erwin stood, brushing off his blazer. "Class will get started soon. Let's head over."
"You got it! Want me to take these?" You patted the stack of papers.
"Yes, thank you."
You followed Erwin through the halls of the university, passing various lecture halls and classrooms until you arrived at yours. Inside, you placed the stack on a table at the front of the room, then found a seat in one of the front rows of the hall.
"Have you spoken to the other teachers yet? I know it's only the first week, but..."
"No, not yet. They're usually too busy to talk to me."
"That's unfortunate. I know your interest in literature isn't being developed with my history classes. I'll see if I can transfer you to the literature department."
"It's okay if you can't. I'm happy enough to be interning here."
"I wouldn't want your talent to go to waste." Erwin adjusted papers on his lectern. "Your college was singing your praises before you were partnered with us, and you've proven them right ever since."
"Thank you. I'm just doing my best."
"I'm only the head of the history department, but I'll talk to my coworkers and see if I can arrange something. Just sit tight."
"Okay."
Class began and passed slowly. Listening to lectures about world history wasn't very exciting, but you would never complain about the position you were in. Paradis University was your dream job, and your academics finally paid off in the form of an internship in your sixth year of college.
Just gotta get my master's, then I'm gonna work here. It's going to be great.
After class, Erwin immediately turned his attention to you, seemingly struck with a new idea.
"I believe my colleague finished a class around this time. He's the head of the literature department."
"I see. Levi Ackerman?" Your obsession with the university motivated you to learn the important staff members by name.
