"It's 8, Levi. Tell me what you were waiting for." You had dragged your boyfriend out of the banquet hall an hour later, standing in the sparse foyer as you began badgering him for answers.
"Fine. I've been waiting for this for a while, anyways."
"You've been waiting an hour?"
"No. Days. I want to have some fun to celebrate the end of the semester." Levi spoke with no joy, greatly contrasting his verbal excitement. "And it's going to be with you."
"Just tell me what you're going to do. You're making me nervous."
"Fine. First off, are you done for the evening? Have you enjoyed the party as much as you wanted to?"
"Yes, I suppose so."
"Okay. Now, are you listening to me?"
"I have been this whole time, Levi."
"Good." He made sure you were keeping eye contact before continuing. "I want to play a game with you."
"A game?" You couldn't even wait for him to elaborate before being confused. "What, you wanna go play hide and seek?"
"Mm. Kind of."
"...What?"
"Well, it's more like tag, probably. I'm not that knowledgeable on children's games."
"Levi, what are you talking about?" You were laughing without realizing it, your nervousness deteriorating into amused confusion.
"Your goal is to make it to my car. My goal is to catch you. Simple enough?"
"Are you being serious?"
"Absolutely. I'll give you a five minute head-start, so no need to worry. I won't be immediately on your trail." Levi looked at the exterior door, imagining the campus beyond. "You can go anywhere on campus, within legal limits. Don't just take a taxi home or run to the bus stop. You have to go to my car."
"I still don't understand. What's the point of this?"
"The point?" Levi glanced back at you. "There is no point. I just want to have fun."
You chuckled again. "Is this your version of fun?"
"Yes. And you are going to indulge me in it. Do you accept?"
This doesn't make any sense. "What's in it for me? What would I get if I won?"
"Of course you'd want a reward." Levi seemed to find the idea absurd. "Well, fine. If you make it to my car, I'll tell you my search history."
"Wait, seriously?"
"Yes. I'll tell you all of it, even the more private things. I won't lie to you or hold back, as long as you trust me."
"Yeah, I trust you. I'm just surprised you're willing to use that as a reward. Are you that confident you'll win?"
"Fairly confident, yes. On the other hand, I'll do what it takes to properly motivate you. I'll sacrifice something like that to make sure you're in this."
"Well, okay. And what if you win? What'll happen?"
"What, my reward? I don't need one. I'm happy enough just capturing you." Levi looked you up and down, excited for the moment he could make you his once again. "And no, I'm not going to punish you if you lose. You wouldn't get penalized for trying your best. So, do you accept?"
"I-- geez, I don't know what to say. This is weird."
"Well?"
It seems too simple. Too boring. There must be something I'm missing, but I don't think Levi will tell me. "Yeah, I accept." I'll do it for Levi's sake, at least. If this is his way of having fun, then I might as well try to make him happy.
