After a quick debate as to who would sleep where, you finally convinced Levi to keep the bed while you took the couch. You both had the maturity to fathom sleeping in the same bed without suggestive thoughts intruding, but you couldn't bring yourself to share the space with him. He was indifferent to such an idea, but had no urge to force you to sleep with him. The couch was small, though tolerable. Levi had fallen asleep long before you had, still stricken with exhaustion after the events of the evening.
The following morning, you awoke to sounds of rustling and shuffling. Is Levi already awake? was your first thought. Opening your eyes, you saw your apartment barely illuminated by the morning sunlight. Levi was at the kitchenette, putting together something you couldn't see behind his body. Though hardly visible, you saw he was still in nothing but the grey joggers from yesterday. The minimal sunlight outlined his frame, spotlighting his exposed ivory skin and contouring his toned back with thin shadows that lined his shoulder blades. His hair had undergone an attempt to be styled, though clearly lacked the proper tools to achieve perfection. His locks drooped on either side of his head, poorly combed and left to fend without any product. Despite that, he was still refined and elegantly poised as ever.
"Good morning," you called softly as you sat up, shedding the blanket you were covered with.
"Mm." Levi opened a cabinet above him, searching through its contents.
"What're you doing?"
"Making breakfast." Levi didn't seem to be one for words that early in the morning. He found a container of powdered sugar, then carefully shook out a portion of the content onto the plate he had finished preparing.
"What are you making?" You stood up and folded the blanket you slept with.
"French toast. You didn't have a lot of ingredients to make anything else."
"Yeah," you laughed. "I'm impressed you found enough to make anything at all."
"Certainly limited," he noted.
You picked up your phone from the bedside table. "Oh, it's already 7:30. I slept in a bit."
"There's no rush. Class doesn't start until 9, and there's no department head asking you to be at his office at 8." Levi opened your refrigerator, the harsh industrial light within lighting up his face. "Go get ready. I'll have food for you once you're done."
"Oh, okay. Thank you." You picked out an outfit before shutting yourself in the bathroom, reliving last night's events as you got dressed and prepared for the day.
When you returned to the main room, you were forced to painfully adjust to the ceiling light Levi had turned on. You saw Levi had set a plate with two slices of French toast on the coffee table, along with a bowl of strawberries and a glass of water. He was searching through a kitchen drawer, finally finding a fork and bringing it to the table.
"Sit and eat," he said as he placed the utensil down.
"Thank you," you said again. "Are you going to eat?" You sat back down and picked up the fork he had procured.
"I will when you go to work." Levi sat next to you, spreading his arms on the back of the couch and crossing his legs. You were flustered by his boldness, given that he was still half-naked and pathetically patched up. Keeping your eyes away from his splayed body, you carefully began splitting the prepared toast with your fork.
"Okay. If you want, I can run by the store after work and get some food."
"No. Just come straight home." Levi's eyes bore into the back of your head.
