You didn't remember the gaggle of policemen surrounding you, nor how they were shooed away from you by Levi and Erwin. You didn't remember officers approaching Kenny and apprehending him. You didn't remember being taken away from the scene as personnel swarmed the area. You didn't remember how Levi disappeared in an ambulance, nor how Erwin escorted you to Levi's apartment once he had finished talking to the officers.

"You should stay here. I'm sure Levi will return in a few hours." Erwin opened Levi's unlocked door.

You blinked, stepping into the familiar home. "Where did he go?"

  "The hospital. Weren't you listening?"

  "No."

"Levi went to the hospital. His injuries are minor, so they'll likely just patch him up and send him home. I already talked with the officers."

Your eyes widened as you recalled your immoral attack. "Are they going to arrest me?"

"No. Not now, at least. You do have a legal battle ahead of you, but that's an issue for tomorrow. Just wait for Levi to return tonight."

  "Is Kenny dead?"

"You only shot his shoulder, (y/n). He's injured and in custody, but alive." Erwin turned away from the door. "Whether or not you did the right thing isn't certain, but your actions likely saved Levi. I respect your choice."

"Hm." You didn't know if you respected your own choice, leaving you with little willingness to accept his words. "I can't think about it properly right now."

"Of course. Good night, (y/n). Expect a busy weekend ahead."

He left, and you shut yourself in Levi's apartment.

Kenny had made the apartment a bit disheveled, with a few drawers ransacked and various items strewn around on the counters and floor. You took it upon yourself to clean it up, wishing to distract yourself from the previous events and from Levi's absence. You found Levi's phone on his bed, unlocking it to find several outgoing calls to different contacts. How many people did Kenny call?

It was around 10 PM when the door was pushed open by Levi. You shot up from your seat at the dining table, quickly approaching your mentor.

He was dressed in loose, grey scrubs, the wide collar exposing his defined clavicle and the edges of bandages that were hidden beneath the shirt. His left arm was encased in a thin splint, tightly secured around his wrist and palm. His hair was still messy, and his face was more sunken than usual. "Oh, you're here," he said.

"Levi." You stopped several paces away from him, maintaining pointless professional distance.

"Have you been here all evening?" He took his shoes off then passed you, examining the state of his home.

"Yes." You didn't know what to say to him. You were glad he was alive and safe, but you reminded yourself of how he abandoned you. You cursed yourself for not hating him more, for being purely relieved that he was back with you again.

Levi opened the door to his bedroom. "Come inside. Let's talk."

You followed him in and sat on the bed while he chose to remain standing. He always preferred being the taller one when possible.

"Let's start with what happened at the apartment," Levi began. "There's a lot that has to be said."

"Yes, there is." Memories of the event flooded your head. "You attacked me again. In front of Erwin, no less. You were as animalistic as the conference."
