After dinner, you washed the dishes while Levi watched you from the couch.

"How was the school day?" Levi asked.

"It was fine. I got the quizzes done, obviously." You alluded to the stack of papers on the coffee table. "Your history class was great. Your analysis class was a bit concerned about you."

  "In what way?"

"Apparently Mikasa saw you last night."

"Damn." He gave the reaction you were expecting. Strangers were one thing, but letting students that respected him see him in such a weakened state wasn't preferable.

"Another student, Eren Yeager, offered his dad's assistance if you need it. He gave me his number." You remembered the scrap of paper Eren had given you still in your pocket.

"Tch. Of course it had to be Zeke's father."

"I thought that too. It's a small world. Anyways, it's there. He's a doctor, and he's willing to do a house call if you'd prefer."

  "Whatever."

As to be expected. "Otherwise, class went smoothly. Your students had great outlines for the most part. Some of them had to find something else, and some didn't have it done, but I was able to handle it."

"Good. Did you have somebody to escort you?"

  "Yeah. Hange offered Moblit."

"He's reliable." Levi seemed relieved at your assigned guard.

"I never saw Kenny nor Caven today. The day went pretty smoothly."

  "Good."

Finished with your briefing, you shut off the faucet and leaned against the kitchen counter. "We should probably check your wounds again," you suggested.

"They're fine. I looked at them while you were at work today."

"You sure? I'm worried the stitches won't hold up."

"They're good," Levi reassured. "I do wish I could clean up a bit, but I'll have to forgo such luxuries right now."

"I'm sorry. I really could go-"

"No. Especially not now. Kenny could be anywhere." Levi crossed his legs. "I just need a little more time, then I'll go face him."

  "And what? Fight him again?"

  "Yes."

"In hopes of frightening him off? If you're not going to kill him or get police involved, then what do you plan to do?"

"I'll do whatever it takes," Levi vowed. "I'll keep him away from-"

A knock at the door cut him off. You tensed, staring wide-eyed at the door obscuring the mystery guest. Who would be here? Surely Kenny didn't find out which room is mine, did he?

"Don't move." Levi shot off the couch, darting to your kitchenette and retrieving a knife from a drawer of assorted utensils. "Stay right where you are. I'll answer the door."

You stayed rigid as Levi crept to the door, craning his head and checking the peephole. He exhaled, relieved at the identity of the visitor. "What're you doing here?" he asked as he opened the door to Erwin Smith.

"Hm. I thought you might be here." Erwin was still dressed finely in his work clothes, severely contrasting Levi's bare attire.

Erwin attempted to politely stay outside your apartment, but Levi ushered him in and quickly shut the door. "Did you come looking for me?" Levi set the knife down on the kitchen counter.
