You slept well, safe in the haven that was Levi's bed. Though you woke up alone, sounds from beyond the bedroom door reassured you that he was still nearby.
Levi is in love with me. You were reminded of his words, childishly grinning to yourself. Sitting up, you ran your fingers through your tousled hair as you blinked yourself awake. That leaves just one question, then.
After a quick shower, you slipped back into the pajamas you wore, being rather limited in clothing options.
"Levi." You opened the bedroom door to find him reorganizing his cupboards, already changed into semi causal clothes.
"Good morning." He didn't turn around, focused on his work.
"Good morning." You waddled into the main room and sat at the dining table. "I have a question."
"Yes?" Levi slid cups into his cupboard.
"It's a serious question. I need your attention."
Levi closed the cupboard and quickly crossed to you. "What is it?"
"I want to know what we are."
"Ah." Levi lowered himself to a chair. "I'm sure you do."
"I mean, don't you want to know too?"
"It doesn't bother me that much. You're mine. That's all I need to know."
"Yes, but there's a difference between...what we have now, and an actual relationship."
"And what is that?" Levi wasn't asking a mocking question; he was genuinely curious.
"Well, romance and, um, possession aren't the same. Romance is more about equal ground. We become partners, not so much a master and a servant."
"Hm." Levi wanted you to explain more.
"It gets a little complicated in social life, too. What should I tell people when they ask how we're connected? Do I keep saying you're my mentor? Should I say you're my boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend?"
"Yes, Levi. That's the title given to someone in a romantic relationship."
"I know that," he scoffed. "It just sounds strange."
You sighed. "Anyways, this all depends on what sort of relationship you want. Love and control are different fields."
"Can't I do both?"
"I don't really know."
"Well," Levi started as he crossed his legs. "Then we'll have to see if it's possible. I'm willing to test my ability to balance the two. If the uncertainty of a title bothers you, then I have no issue being your boyfriend."
You blinked. "...That's it?"
"What else?" Levi pondered for a moment. "Do you want more formality?"
"I don't know..."
"(Y/n), will you be my girlfriend?"
Despite the awkwardness of the context, the question still elicited a blush from you. "Geez, not one for subtly, are you?"
"Well? Will you or won't you?"
"I-I will, I guess."
"You guess?"
"I will."
"Good. Then there's your title."
"Wow. Alright, then." You leaned back, the suddenness of the situation hitting you like a train.
