Outside the building, you hurried down the sidewalk to the Utgard Auditorium. Annie was good enough to stall him, but you still had faith in Levi to win. Maybe he'll take longer if he's holding back. Whatever, there's no time to think about it. I just have to focus on getting to the lot.

You looked behind you, seeing no activity near the building you had left. The area was quiet, motionless and devoid of any lurkers. Returning your gaze ahead, you quickened your pace.

Nearly there. You had yet to experience any interruptions a few minutes later, successfully progressing to your goal. The quietness of the campus was a bit eerie, given that the stealthy Levi could emerge at any point. You kept your breathing down and softened your steps in an effort to listen for followers, but nothing could be discerned.

You bypassed Utgard Auditorium, making your way to the parking lot just beyond. The sidewalk you used had the auditorium and lot on one side and a gently sloping lawn on the other, one of many grassy spots on campus. Mist from the recently watered grass hit your skin, reminding you of the cold temperature that had gone unnoticed due to your adrenaline.

The sidewalk brought you alongside the first row of parking spots, some filled. You checked each immediate vehicle, then looked past them at the few cars dotting the area. There it is! Levi's sedan sat near the center, hidden beneath the night sky but visible nevertheless. Relieved, you took a step towards the objective.

Your heart dropped as Levi shot out from behind the cover of a truck parked next to you, then lunged at you with such force you both flung backwards into the grass. Given no time to react, you tumbled down the hill together, eventually slowing near the base of the slope.

"Dammit!" you screamed, already clawing at the predator ferociously. His body was atop yours, having protected you from the brunt of the descent. You groaned as you pushed at his chest, exerting your entire strength into freeing yourself.

"Calm down. It's over; I've already caught you." Levi let you flail, stiffly holding you until you relaxed.

Despairingly desperate, you dug your fingers into the dirt around you for some sort of handle to pull yourself away.

"(Y/n), it's okay! The chase is over." Levi slid his arms behind your back and held you close to him, comforting you in the face of your loss.

"No! Argh!" You grabbed his shoulders, pointlessly trying to make space. Your hands had become soiled by the dirt, now dirtying his blazer recklessly. "I-- oh, damn. Goddammit." You sighed, giving up on the fight.

"There you go. It's okay. Just calm down." Levi repeated phrases of consolation, reinforcing your assuagement.

"Geez," you breathed, done with frantic panic and now letting the failure sink in.

"You tried your best," Levi cooed. "But I caught you. Just be with me now."

"...Okay." You dropped your arms, surrendering.

Levi let go, then got off and sat beside you. "Are you hurt?"

"No," you said as you sat up, your back now damp from the moist grass.

"Good. Here," he said as he took off his blazer, quickly wrapping it around you.

  "Sorry, I got dirt-"

"I don't care about that right now." He secured the jacket on your torso before sitting back. "Look at me," he requested softly.

You gained control of your breathing as you met his eyes, finding not the face of a hunter, but instead the tender face of a delighted boyfriend. He wasn't smiling, though he was clearly exuding more joy than you had seen before.
