As expected, the doorbell was rung by none other than your possessive mentor several minutes later.

"Hello." You felt a bit informal opening the door to Professor Levi in nothing but a tank and sweatpants, but any courtesy was too far gone anyways. He had lost his blazer and loosened his shirt, still looking smarter than you.

"What did you two do?" He pushed past you and into your room.

"We went shopping, like Erwin said we would." You calmly shut the door.

  "Did you discuss anything?"

"Nothing exciting. Just talked about the day," you lied. Why? Are you worried about something?

"I can't believe that," he grumbled. "Erwin hardly ever just talks about the day."

"Well, he did." You leaned against the door.

Levi sat on your bed, clasping his hands together. "Did you buy something?"

"Yeah, I did." You chewed your lip. "Well, Erwin bought it for me."

He put a great deal in effort to not let the comment get to him. "Let me see," he demanded.

"Oh, sure." You retrieved the gown from your closet and extended it to him. He reached for the dress, swishing the fabric and letting it fall through his fingers.

  "It's nice," he said.

  "Thanks. I thought so too."

  "Acceptable enough. Put it back."

You hung the dress back up in the closet, feeling Levi's gaze on you the whole time. What's he planning to do here? It's getting late.

"Um, is everything okay?" you asked, disturbed by his inconsistent attitude all day.

"What? Why are you asking that?"

"I dunno. You just seem a little off."

"I'm fine." He crossed his arms.

"If you say so." You sat at the head of the bed, leaning against the thick pillows. "Do you need anything else?"

"I'm going to keep you in my sight as long as I can. I'll leave once I'm ready to go to bed."

"Oh." You stretched your legs out. "I'm not going to go anywhere. You don't need to worry."

"I can't guarantee that. I have to keep an eye on you."

"Why? What do you think I'm going to do?"

  "I don't know, but I can't risk anything."

"I don't get it." You leaned your head back. "What did I do to deserve this supervision?"

"You met him," Levi said. "I won't let you run into him again."

He's talking about that guy again. "Who is he? You're really concerning me."

  "It's not your bus-"

"It is my business!" you cried. "He's already talked to me once! And he knew a lot about us! He wouldn't reach out to me if it wasn't my business."

"I'm going to handle it. For once, appreciate the gesture and give me control. I'll worry about it so you don't have to."

"You want me to be grateful? You're just withholding information and leaving me in fear for my safety."

"Why are you afraid?" He crossed to your side of the bed, closing the distance between you two as he stood next to the bed. "I'm not going to let you two meet ever again. That means he'll never be a threat to you."
