"We. Are. Back!" You burst into Professor Levi's office at 8 AM on Monday, the 3rd of January. It was the first day of the spring semester, arriving just a week after Levi's birthday. "Ha! I missed this place."

"Did you?" Levi slunk in behind you, carrying a pitch black briefcase he'd bought for himself over the break. "I didn't think it was that inviting of a room."

"You can't say that about a room you furnished," you tutted as you crossed to your familiar, unwelcoming-yet-welcoming chair.

"Speaking of, do you want a nicer seat? I more or less bought that one on a whim." Levi shut the door and flicked on the lights.

"Nah, I'm good. This one does me just fine." You collapsed into the chair, reintroducing yourself to its hard surface. "Besides, it's only for one more semester. I might not be in this office next year."

"Don't remind me." Levi set his briefcase on his desk, then circled behind it. "I'm not ready to face that bitter truth."

"Sorry, sorry. But I'm not disappearing or anything. I'll just have my own office, elsewhere." You grinned with pride over the position you hadn't even earned yet.

"Don't get ahead of yourself. You've still got-"

"An interview to do, I know. I'll get my application in pronto."

"Good." He sighed as he settled in his chair, flicking open his case and retrieving the papers within. "Have you looked over the class rosters?"

"No. I'll see the students in class today." You shrugged.

"Hm." He shook his head as he picked up a pen, scribbling small notes on the sheet in front of him. "Are you losing your attentiveness as my intern?"

"Not at all." You folded your arms. "But you're the professor. Glancing at the list of kids won't really do me any good."

"You better keep your brattiness to a minimum," he ordered. "I've got a job to do, and corralling you will just add to my burden."

"Burden? Oh, Levi, I'm not a burden."

"No, but your bratty behavior is."

"Nah, it's not. You like it."

He shook his head, erasing the smile that wanted to grace his lips. "Well, nothing I can't handle. I'll do my job as your mentor, as always."

  "You mispronounced master."

  "Tch."

His Literature Analysis class began at 9 AM, just as before. The roster of students had shifted since last semester, forcing you to relearn a new slew of students. The only recognizable faces were Mina, Annie, and Marco, each spread out across the sea of students.

In the afternoon, he sent you back to his office to deep clean the area while he taught his History in World Literature class. You happily consented, frankly indifferent to the 300-person class that didn't have any intriguing lesson to zone out to. Remembering loosely where the custodian's closet was, you stole a few supplies before whiling the hours away in Levi's office.

He returned at 2, his eyes already skimming the room as he approached his desk, meticulously checking the quality of your cleaning job.

"Welcome back." You arose from behind the desk you had been wiping down the underside of, greeting your boyfriend. "How was class?"

"Fine. Nothing incredible." He checked his watch, gauging how quickly the day had passed. "Good. It's only 2, as expected. Mondays are always the shortest."
