You took the break to use the bathroom, then spent some time on your phone on Levi's bed.

"5:39!" Levi called from the other room.

"I know!" you replied. "I'm coming." You left your phone on the bedside table and returned to Levi, finding him waiting at his seat in the main room, black rope in his lap. Turning around obediently, you crossed your wrists behind you and felt Levi's fingers skirt around them as he returned the restraints to their home.

"Beautiful, as always," Levi breathed as he finished the knots. "Back on your knees."

  "Really? Can't I-"

"Down." He shoved you to the floor impatiently.

"Fine, fine." You clumsily turned to face him, balancing on your toes and knees.

Levi returned his attention to the table, where a small stack of paperwork sat. You watched him pick up a pen and continue the work he had stopped only to tie you up again.

"You're not even going to give me attention?" You shuffled to the left side of his body, looking up at him pleadingly.

"Am I required to?" Levi kept his eyes on his work, but indulgingly put his free hand through your hair.

"You should," you said as you partook in his touch with sheepish joy. "I don't want to be ignored."

"I don't want you going through my things. This is meant to be a punishment for you, not a pleasure." Regardless, Levi continued massaging your scalp gently.

"Well, I'll take what I can get." You leaned your head against his lap, closing your eyes.

Levi wrote with one hand, petting you with the other. His divided attention, though minimal, was still comforting to be the recipient of. Minutes passed, you nearly falling asleep against him.

"I want your opinion," Levi said.

  "Yeah?" You didn't move.

"With these new applicants, I have many interviews to conduct. So many, in fact, that I'm thinking of delegating some of them to other professors."

"Surely you're not going to ask me, right?"

"No. That would be ridiculous. You're talented, but you're not proper faculty by any means."

  "That's true."

"However, I need to pick a few other individuals from my department. The question lies with who's competent enough."

"They're all competent. Don't be mean." You nuzzled against his thigh.

"I know that." You heard papers shuffling above you. "I have it narrowed down to Gunther, Nanaba, and Rico. I want to pick just one of those three to take on some interviews."

  "Gunther," you said immediately.

"That was quick," Levi commented. "How did you reach that conclusion?"

"Don't get me wrong, the other two are pretty good choices as well." You rested your chin on his thigh. "But if you want professors that align with your ideals, Gunther is the best choice. He's the most loyal to you, yet independent enough to handle the work alone. He'll hire people you would've picked as well."

"Where'd you learn all this about him?"

"I have been getting close with the literature department, y'know. My attention hasn't been purely on you."

  "Hm."

"I know you probably want it to be."

"Knock it off," he sighed. "I'm quite alright."
