The next class was much less personable due to its massive audience of 300 students. A good portion of students were already in their seats before you arrived. You carried half of their blank tests, Moblit the other.
"Good afternoon," you said as soon as class started. "Levi's out today, but the plan for your quiz is still in place. We'll pass out the tests and you have the entire class period to finish. When you're done, bring your test to the front. Then you're free to head out. If you don't finish before the end of the period, you'll be asked to turn in what you've completed."
The mass of students were much less opinionated than your last class, making your task easier. You weren't experienced in literature history, so teaching the huge class something was something you might've failed to do. The convenience of a quiz reduced the hassle.
With the help of a few volunteers, you passed out the test papers and commanded silence before letting the class begin. You and Moblit supervised, constantly scanning the audience for questions or cheating.
I'm glad Kenny isn't showing up. I wonder what he's doing right now. Seriously, what does that guy want? Who tears up their nephew and risks his life?
Levi's history is a lot scarier than I was expecting. I want to ask him about it.
Class passed without any issue. Students gave you their tests and left as the period drew to a close, and the remaining individuals quickly wrapped up without any problems. Moblit helped you organize the papers, then offered to carry them as you left the room.
"I'm heading home now," you said. "I appreciate you sticking with me for today."
"I'll take you to your car," he declared. "I was told to escort you, so that's what I'll do."
Yeah, Levi would probably prefer it that way. "Okay, as long as you're free. Except I'm heading to the bus stop."
"Oh, I see. Not a problem."
You led Moblit to the bus station, carefully watching your back in the exposed outdoors. After taking the stack of tests from him, you separated as you boarded the congested bus and left the university.
Of course traffic had to be worse when I'm in a hurry. You checked your phone in the elevator ascending to your room, reading the daunting "4:11" on the screen. Sorry, Levi.
"I'm here!" you shouted as you flung the apartment door open. "It's 4:12."
Levi was sitting on the floor, leaning against the kitchen cabinets. He had been eyeing the door and jumped a little when you burst in, then quickly rose to his feet. "It is. You're late."
"I know. I did try to hurry."
"You made me worry."
"Only for twelve minutes," you posited. "Surely you knew there was a chance I could get delayed." You passed him and set the papers and your phone on your coffee table. You noticed the room had been cleaned thoroughly, with everything picked up and every surface thoroughly scrubbed. The air was fresher, spruced up by the draft coming in through the open window. I guess he kept pretty busy.
"No. I knew that you would get here at a certain time if you were told to. You didn't." Levi shut the door you had left swinging.
"Well, I did my best." You collapsed on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"This is a life or death situation. Your tardiness is concerning to me." He crossed the room and stood before you.
"But I'm here now. Isn't that good enough?"
