Sometimes, Levi's an idiot. You made this discovery while Levi was explaining your task but made no indication of the plan you had devised. Several minutes had passed since you were left alone, and it was time to jump into action. You stacked the answer sheet back on top and picked up the entire pile.
Rules, my ass. I'll get this done in no time. You left his office after activating the doorstop to keep the door from locking, then headed several doors over, to Erwin's office.
"Erwin?" you called, as it was rather challenging to knock.
"Hello, (y/n). Do you need something?" Erwin opened up and towered over you, though with no hostility. You had almost forgotten you had resources other than Levi.
"Yeah. Um, I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could use your computer. Levi doesn't have one."
"Of course you can." Erwin's office, though Victorian in style, held a modern computer set that was absent in Levi's office. It clashed with the sealed wooden desk and ornate furniture, but nothing could be done about it. "I was finishing up, so I don't need to use it anymore. What do you need to do?"
You tilted the stack of papers forward. "Multiple choice answers." That was enough for him to figure it out.
"Here's the scanner." Erwin retrieved a plastic electrical box from an elegant cabinet and set it next to the computer. "Do you remember which program to use?"
"Yes." You had seen Erwin utilize it often when you learned under him. "I'm pretty sure I've got it figured out."
"Good. I'm leaving, then. Just be sure to power down the computer and put away the scanner when you're done. The door will be locked, so once you leave the room you can't go back in."
"Okay. Have a good evening, Erwin."
"You too."
Alone once again, you booted up the program used to quickly scan bubble sheets and output data. You wired the scanner into the computer and positioned the answer sheet in the receiver tray. A few more format choices were inputted into the program, then you scanned the first document.
The sheet of paper disappeared into the small machine before reappearing in a separate terminal, its data now digitally reflected on the monitor. You selected the displayed document as the template and began scanning the students' papers.
12, 17, 32. 37/40. The program instantly displayed the incorrect answers and the final score.
This'll be a breeze. I'll join you soon, Levi.
Your expected work time had been substantially reduced due to your resources. You finished 45 minutes later, stacking the completed papers in a neat pile. Reversing your steps, you ran through a checklist of the chores you had to complete before you could leave. Scanner put away. Computer off. Door closed. Papers on Levi's desk. Pen cleaned. Chair cleaned. Desk cleaned. Doorstop inactivated. Lights off.
Okay, I'm good to go.
You left the campus and took the bus to the restaurant. It was a sizable place, built with cobblestone walls and a wooden roof, purely for aesthetic. You fixed bits of your hair using the reflection of you in your phone, then took a deep breath before stepping inside.
The warm lighting increased the sense of coziness flooding your head, paired with the gentle murmur of patrons conversing. Thin wooden walls loosely divided the restaurant into sections, making it challenging to find your group. The hostess approached, smiling politely.
