|Bash's POV|
I was sitting in the hospital cafeteria with Ms. Stephanie, waiting for Mr. Paul to come back from seeing Ro.
"Bash..."
I had zoned out while she was talking to me. My mind was everywhere.
"Yes, uh, sorry. I zoned out."
She nodded.
"Hungry?"
"No. I ate earlier after my meeting this morning."
"Right. Rory has been telling me for weeks now that you had this huge contract for a building in Milan. Did you get it?"
I nodded.
"Aw, sweetheart. Congratulations!"
"Thanks," I mumbled.
She sighed.
"I know this is hard on you, but what matters is that Rory is okay."
"Ms. Stephanie, I really am sorry..."
She held up her hand.
"Sebastian, stop apologizing. You didn't do anything wrong."
"I could've prevented this."
She leaned back in her seat.
"Oh really? How so?"
"Do you really want to know?" I questioned.
I could care less what anyone had to think. I was tired of holding back. Kyle took things to another level. I knew he was behind this shit. I'm not dumb. He wanted action, he was about to get it.
"Paul filled me in on what's been going on. I knew bits and pieces, but I didn't know that Kyle was still harassing Aurora until we were in Texas. I know how much you want to defend her, but we don't know for sure what caused this. Until we do, all we can do is wait for the authorities to handle the situation."
"Ms. Stephanie, with all due respect, you don't even believe what you're saying. I know you and Mr. Paul will hire private investigators so that Ro doesn't end up at the bottom of a case pile."
She didn't say anything for a few moments.
"If we need to bring in a private investigator, we will. I just don't need you doing anything off the cuff that could jeopardize your future."
"So, you just want me to sit back and do nothing?"
She nodded.
"I want you to continue being there for my daughter. She loves you and I know that you love her. This is going to be a long journey of recovery for her both physically and mentally. As for Kyle, bash, please leave it alone."
"I plan to be by Ro's side every step of the way."
I intentionally didn't make any promises about staying away from Kyle. I already had Luca doing his job in tracking him down.
"We can take her back to Connecticut with us until she..."
I quickly shook my head.
"I'll take care of her."
"Bash, we appreciate that. Still, you have a life. You have a career..."
"None of that matters without Ro being 100%. I can adjust. I'm not leaving Ro like this. I know if the tables were turned she'd be right by my side. So even if you took her back to Connecticut, I'd still be there."
She nodded.
"Fair enough. If Aurora is comfortable staying, with you, which I'm sure she is, then fine. We will be checking in daily once she's discharged from here."
