|Tyler's POV|
What a crazy 5 years it's been, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have a beautiful girlfriend who I plan on making my wife. I'm a father. Our son, Logan Tyler Law (LT), is our greatest blessing. From the day he was born, Logan has changed our lives for the better. When we found out we were having a boy, I don't know who was more excited, Izzy or me.
We've comfortably settled here in Houston, Texas and not only am I chasing my dream, Izzy is chasing hers. I'm on track to becoming a neurosurgeon and Izzy and Jamie's dance studio is flourishing, plus they're looking to expand. Like any couple, we've had our ups and downs. Scheduling everything between the two of us has been a challenge, but we've made it work. Life is good.
My residency has been kicking my ass, but here I am a year in, I think I'm getting a handle on things. Logan just started Kindergarten and Izzy is so amazing at juggling motherhood and her career. She's been there for me, every step of the way. I can't thank her enough. When I graduated from USC, I was willing to change career paths if need be just to make Izzy more comfortable. We were both first time parents and I know just how demanding med school and residency would be. She wanted me to continue. She wanted me to fulfill my dream. I wanted her to do the same. I don't know how things worked out how they did, but I'm thankful.
With LT starting Kindergarten, I prefer to work early mornings so that I can get home in the afternoon and spend time with him and Izzy. I'm on call every other weekend. We're finding a balance the best we can as my schedule can shift without notice.
Getting the text from Izzy about Logan being in trouble wasn't the news I was expecting to hear. He was having more tantrums lately and Izzy was insistent we talk to him instead of spanking. We both come from being disciplined growing up and I'm not talking about lectures. I'm all for having LT understand why he's in trouble, but he needs more consequences for his actions other than a damn timeout.
I was wrapping up for the day when I got a call from my dad.
Hey dad.
Hey, son. Hope I'm not interrupting.
If I couldn't talk, I wouldn't have answered.
I laughed. He didn't find it as funny as I did.
Alright, smart ass. How was your day?
It was fine. A few more cases than usual, but I'm wrapping up for the day. Just finishing some paperwork. What's going on?
It's Izzy.
I immediately stopped what I was doing.
What about Izzy? Is she alright? Where's LT?
They're both here. Izzy came to pick up LT. She looked a little flushed. She ran off to the bathroom. Your mother is with her now.
Do you know if she ate?
Jamie said she barely ate. I'm sure she's also dehydrated. I wasn't going to let her drive in the condition she was in. Izzy being Izzy...
She told you she was fine.
Exactly.
Alright, um. I'll be there as soon as I can. Let me call Brandon. I'll drop my car off at home then ask him to pick me up. Give me a couple of hours.
It's no rush, son. Just wanted to let you know. See you when you get here.
Thanks, dad.
I ended the call and finished up my paperwork. I sat there thinking about Izzy and what could possibly be wrong. She wasn't showing any signs of being sick. She's been taking care of herself. We didn't have a problem with that. I then thought if this could be connected to her period. Then again, I don't remember the last time she had it. Damn.
