THE CRACK OF A GUNSHOT ECHOES THROUGH the Marley dock, which was completely absent of people. Himari, who had fired the bullet, tucked the semi-automatic pistol that she had been given upon exiting the airship, into the belt at her side. Her lips were drawn tightly, eyes dark and emotionless as she turned her head away from the limp body that lay on the ground at her feet. She ignored the thick, pungent smell of telltale iron as blood began to leak from the bullet hole in his head.

There was a momentary wave of regret that filled her body as she turned her back on the first man she had killed that night. Himari was half-tempted to mutter an apology, but knew that it would do nothing to change the fact that he was dead. Killed at her hand.

Brushing a loose hair impatiently from her face, she leaned down to the control board sitting on the large desk that the man had previously been sitting in front of, overwhelmed by the number of blinking lights and buttons that sat in front of her. She looked up at the sound of a knock on the door and saw her mother's face peering at her through the window. Himari waved her in.

Sora pulled open the door, eyes immediately darting to the dead body laying on the ground beside Himari. Sora was silent for a moment before she shook her head and turned away from the man, joining Himari at her side.

"Weren't your orders to knock him out?" Sora murmured as she began to flick some of the levers, extinguishing the blinking lights that had illuminated the room in a ruby-red glow.

"Too risky," Himari replied shortly. "If he woke up, he could alert any nearby officers while we're emptying the ship. Besides, if I hadn't done it, Armin's transformation would have."

Sora sighed, but said nothing, knowing that Himari was right. She pressed a couple more buttons before pushing herself up off the desk and straightening up.

"All done. I've disabled the radios in the surrounding control towers - they won't be able to get word to the mainland now once we dock."

Himari gave her mother a nod of her head.

"Thanks."

She pushed the wheely chair aside with the side of her black boot before leaning down. She placed one hand on the desk, laying it flat in front of her as she picked up the hand-held microphone in the other hand. With her braid falling over her shoulder, Himari flicked the radio on, hearing the tell-tale static coming from the other end.

"Captain Gus, can you hear me?" Himari took her finger off the button, allowing the static to fill the room once more. She waited for half a minute, eyes flickering up to the large boat in the distance she knew carried the entirety of the Survey Corps and the troops from Horodaka.

There was a hitch in the static before a recognisable crackling came from the radio in Himari's hand.

"Affirmative," she heard the familiar voice of the man reply.
