DINNER WAS A TUMULTUOUS AFFAIR. Himari, quickly realising that she wasn't going to be able to escape as quickly as she had liked to, sat down at a table that she figured was less crowded, perfectly content being by herself. Marco had decided to join her, not that Himari really minded considering he wasn't a noisy one, and the boy who had been headbutted by Shadis, Jean, had taken a seat with the pair, too. A few other cadets that Himari didn't know the names of sat down the other end of the table in a small group, all of them talking just as loudly as the rest of the people in the meal hall.

Halfway through, however, Himari noticed that the number of people on the side of the hall she was sitting on began to deplete, all of them drifting over to a table right at the very back of the meal hall across from her. From between the gaps of people, she could make out the dark, chestnut hair of Eren, who had become completely surrounded by their comrades.

"Oh, I think he's talking about the Shiganshina attack!" Marco said softly, after noticing that Himari, who had kept her eyes on her bowl the entire time, was now looking up, her attention focused on something else other than her food. Himari blew a piece of her hair out of her face in reply, turning back to the soup in her bowl. She dipped her spoon into the broth, listening quietly as Eren began to answer the questions being fired rapidly at him. At his vague description of the Colossal Titan, Himari's mind drifted back to that horrible day and the sight that had haunted her for years. She set her spoon down on the table and pushed her bowl and bread away from her, folding her arms on the surface of the wood below her.

Jean looked over at the girl but said nothing. She had been quiet all evening, but had looked much less tense than she currently did. Her fingers gripped her forearms just tight enough to make dents in her skin and her mouth had tightened into a straight line.

"What about the Armored Titan that broke Wall Maria?" Someone asked. Himari briefly closed her eyes. The sight of it standing fifteen-metres tall, it's hellish eyes glowing unnaturally made her skin crawl at the memory of it. She opened them once more.

"That's what people call it, but it looked like an ordinary Titan to me," Eren replied honestly.

"Th-Then, what are ordinary titans like?" A silence filled the air and Himari lifted her head, looking over as Eren dropped his spoon, clapping a hand to his mouth. His face had paled significantly, something she could see even between the gaps of the people crowded around him and her eyes narrowed.

"Relentless." Her voice cut through the deafening silence that had filled the air, causing everyone to glance over at the table where she was sitting. Jean turned his head, his eyes narrowing with curiosity as the girl spoke for the first time that evening.

"The moment they have their eyes set on you, there's nothing you can do but run and hope to whoever's listening that you're fast enough and they can't catch you. They're bloodthirsty, vicious beasts who don't care who they eat, so long as its blood that they taste and your lifeless body in their stomach."
