Turns out Marinette was a good cook and made rice balls. She was the only reason why the three men survived the night without killing each other. Dinner was rather quiet and awkward while the four ate in silence while Eric made unnecessary remarks.

"So, you work for Daiyu Xiong, right?" Mari asked Eric.

"Indeed I do."

"What is it like?"

He raised an eyebrow. "You're thinking about following your mother's footsteps?"

"Well, I am deciding on working for her just like my mom."

"Hao is doing it too. Right?"

"Shut up." He snapped.

"Eric. What should I expect when I work for her?"

"Well, you're taking part of the big worldwide business that families back in old dynasties started with the person who started it all. It was obviously the Xiong family. She likes successful people and she let your mom in. As I recall Sabine Cheng owns a good seventy-six precent of the business. I own seventy percent. The Tungs own sixty-seven precent of the business too. When you work for her, you cannot quit her. You must do her biddings and don't meddle with her personal life. Chaoxiang and I are the one ones who know about her personal life since we all grew up with each other. She favors the wealth and posh. Never deceive or neglect her. When you come to these decisions you must make a positive decision on yes and no. Remember to expect the unexpected."

"The unexpected? What do you mean?"

"Ah, you are so curious. I love that about you." He placed his finger under her chin.

Adrien shot up pulling her towards him where she pressed her body against his. "Too bad. She's mine."

"GAH! ADRIEN!"

Eric just smirked getting up. "Young love. Nothing better than that. Night guys." He pulled open the shoji that lead to his room and closed it without a word.

Hao got up with a sigh, stretching as he walked up the stairs without saying a single word. "Now it's just the two of us senpai." He purred as his hands made the way up to her breast.

She slapped his hands away and got up. "Not now Adrien. I have to go check on Hao. He seems off today."

"Always him." He huffed feeling jealous as he stood up waking off. "Honestly, I don't care anymore about what you do or who you chose."

Those words stunned her head on as he walked up the stairs with his hands in his pockets.

What the heck is up with him? Is he mad?

She just shook it off trying not to think about it. She slowly walked up the stairs hearing the door close meaning that Adrien was out of sight. She started to knock on Hao's door, but stopped.

What is stopping me? I shouldn't let him stop me. He's a honest friend of mine.

She knocked the door speaking with a soft tone. "Hao?"

There was no response. She opened the door a little surprised that it wasn't locked and saw that no one was in the room. The balcony door was open wide.

What could have happened?

She walked in the room, walking onto the balcony where the opened door was opened. There she saw a ladder up to the roof and she climbed it all the way to the top. There she found him, sitting on the roof looking out into the city.

I cannot believe I am doing this.

She sat down besides him as he turned to look at her with a shocked expression. "You must like high places, right?"

"Oi? Yeah, I like high places. It gives me a certain feel that I just cannot describe."

She could tell that he was hurting and she needed to find out so he wouldn't bottle up his emotions. "Yah know Hao. It's a blessing to have someone who cares for you and worries about you. I think having someone out there thinking about me, even when we are far apart, is very assuring. I think it's amazing to be able to love someone so much." She felt her eyes get hot and then she thought of her mother.

He looked at her with wide eyes as his mind ran wild. What I do know is that maybe 'loving someone' means embracing their past and future too, not just loving what you can see of them now. Or maybe I am just too blind.

"Mari just promise me something, okay? Promise me that you will never lose this side of you." He said with stern eyes while a blush formed. "Promise me."

"PROMISE ME!" The words of someone who he remembered a long time ago when he was just a kid. Someone who he cared for dearly. "Promise me...or I'll never forgive you..."

His eyes widened. "I won't...I will never forget. I will ..."

"Hao are you okay?"

He snapped out of his faint memory from the past. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just remembered having to say goodbye to someone who I was really close too. Closer to than my father."

She could feel his pain and knew that the person he was close with was dead. She placed a hand on his back. "I like your hair. It's soft and easy to mess up."

He looked at her with soft eyes, surrendering his heart to her slowly. I want to surrender my heart to her. I wanted to cry, whine and complain about my weakness to her like a child. She's that type of person who has never made me feel this way. I know we have no chance and I was too late. I want to give up, but I want her. I wanted her. Wanted to make her mine. Even more than I wanted to protect her, I just wanted her all to myself. I cannot keep forcing my love on her..

"Really? I never thought of it like that."

"Well, now you know...so just keep that in mind that you are very cool and I always wanted to be your friend, maybe...more than..."

"Don't say things that you don't mean."

"Right, right. Sorry."

Slowly, Hao decided to stop loving her. He saw the way Adrien looked at her and you could tell by the way looked at her, he really did love her. He properly sees her like a woman. Her too, the way she looks at him. In doing so, he promised himself that he will distance himself from her once when they step on Parisian soil.
