Two hours passed and it was two in afternoon. She went to many shops and looked at many of the buildings in the city. She stopped by a few stores, but just got little packages of sushi, pocky and strawberry milk in a can. "Hey Mari." Hao spoke walking up to her with black Adidas running pants on, a black shirt and white running shoes.
"Oh hey Hao. Did you tell..."
"Yeah, he's still at the beach when I left which was around one."
"Oh. What was he doing?"
"Hanging with a bunch of women who were hanging on him and kissing him. Mostly they came up to him and he just sat there unamused. Did something happen between you two?"
"It's complicated. Just that he acted like nothing happened when he said that he didn't care anymore of who I chose or what I do. He's so confusing."
"You still love him don't you?"
"Well, I guess you could say that. I worry about him though. I'm scared that he will leave me like how he left his other girlfriends. Do you still love me?"
"Yes. Yes I still do and I'm sorry."
"Hao, you cannot keep waiting on someone like me. Don't throw your life away on me."
"I know, I know. I promise you after this trip I will stop, okay? Wanna get boba?"
"Sure. That was something I wanted to do when I got here."
The two of them got boba, laughed and talked about there lives. That time was the time when they were able to spend time with each other carefree. It was seven in the evening and the sunsets were amazing in Japan, but the large buildings usually blocked the way.
"Hao are you sure this is a good idea?" She asked following him.
"It is. I have done this many times. Trust me on this." He hopped the fence into an alley while she did the same, but wasn't as slick as his hop over the fence. He wall climbed the building to where he was hanging on to a ledge, pulling himself up to the roof.
Just like a cat.
She smirked at the statement in her mind. "Come on let's go." He said.
With a big sigh she ran up the wall with all her strength and hung onto the ledge. She tried to lift herself up, but she couldn't. Luckily he was there to pull her up on the roof where they ran across and laughed as if they died and went to heaven. They ended the running spree when they came to a certain point.
"Just in time." He breathed hard, sitting down on the edge of the building looking out at the sunset. She sat down besides him and watched the sunset. "You ever think about taking a break for a while just to see what the world really looks like from a bigger picture?"
"Yeah, I always think that. It's just so beautiful. Adrien and I used to do this..."
He placed a hand on her hand. "It'll be fine, okay?"
"It worries me. I can't be alone. I'm too scared."
"It's fine. Being alone is hard, but you'll get through it. I wished that we could live life without making mistakes, but that's impossible. We all make mistakes, but we push forwards one step at a time. We'll make it through. In my honest opinion I don't think anyone is born to live. It's something you have to find yourself."
"Just like how hope will come over and over again. No matter what it will bloom..."
"What? My uncle said that before he died."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. Just that my uncle was a strong man. He always admired his gun collection and always carries them around. People would say he was paranoid. He died in Japan by a fatal gun shot. The man who shot him didn't get away because my uncle shot him dead. No bullet could stop my uncle or so I thought. I try to be like him, what he wants me to me. I kept that promise and I have to work for Daiyu Xiong to continue his legacy. I cannot let him down."
"You know Hao. You can be selfish every once in a while. It's fine for those who don't complain and stuff, but those who always complain get me pissed. Sometimes living can be hard," she clenched her free hand in her lap. "But it's only because we're alive that we can make each other laugh, cry and be happy!"
He saw the pain and hurt in her words. All he wanted to do was to hold her in his arms and love her for who she was. He didn't love her out of pity or compassion. He loved her like crazy. He couldn't stop himself from embracing her in his arms. "It hurts me to watch you torment yourself like this. Just stay quiet and just hold onto me."
"Maybe I'm not perfect. Maybe I have a long way to go. But someday...someday I'll be able to stand and walk on my own. Without hurting anyone...and without being a burden." She held on tighter to him. "I want to believe that life isn't full of darkness. Even if storms come to pass, the sun will shine again. No matter how painful and hard the rain may beat down on me. So, take me down. Take me down please under my chain of pain."
"You fought well...Marinette."
Adrien was in his room, looking at his phone with thoughts running through his head. He heard the front door open and heard the voices of Hao and Mari. They sounded happy and it sounded like Adrien wasn't the only guy who could make her laugh.
