Adrien slammed open the boys restroom door and saw Hao leaning against the wall on his phone. "What is it Adrien?"
"Why did you make her upset?"
"I have no excuse. Do what you want."
Marinette ran the way Adrien ran and she heard a thud in the boys restroom. "Oh crap."
Inside the boys restroom Adrien rammed himself into Hao, making him fall over on the ground. He pinned him down to the ground with his legs, holding his torso steady. "Bet."
"I won't do the same thing to happened in high school, Hao." He took off Hao's shirt and took out a sharpie. He scribbled on his chest. He got off him and stood up admiring his art work. "There you go."
"I MEANT PUNCH ME! NOT WRITE ON ME!" He yelled.
"Er...guys. You guys good?" She knocked the on the door. Only then she heard another thud and that got her worried.
I cannot believe I am going to do this. She twisted the handle of the door, but it was locked. Yep, I'm screwed.
Hao was on top of Adrien when he tackled him down. "You really thought Agreste."
He looked at him unamused and kneed him in the gut. He cringed at the pain rolling off him. They heard a knock on the door and Hao got up and opened the door. "Hey."
"Hey..." She trailed off seeing what was written in black sharpie on his chest. On his chest it read: I am a piece of crap. "You got something on your chest there."
"I know. Can we talk though?"
"Sure."
Adrien walked up behind Hao. "Okay, I'm done."
"Hold up. I gotta talk to Hao in private. You can go now."
"Fine." He sighed leaving them alone.
Hao and Marinette sat in the locker room on the bench in awkward silence for ten seconds until one of them spoke first.
"Well, it's good to be back." She spoke nervously not wanting to look at him,
"Yeah. Good to be back. Listen, I'm sorry, but I don't want to trample you or anything. I don't want to be that image that you see me as a stupid clingy simp. I have changed. Just...my mother calls me a sin and it tugs at my heart that I couldn't save you that day when Nathaniel sexually assaulted you."
"You hurt me Hao. What did I do to you?"
"Nothing, it's just me." He noticed that she didn't want to look at him at all. "Mari look at me, please."
"I just don't want you to be more disappointed in me. It hurts when you said that to me. Am I a burden?"
"No! You're not! I am the one who is the burden! I am selfish. I confessed my sins and ignored you. When you tried to get close to me or talk to you I...I would yell. I am sorry. The truth is...I wanted to be with you and you're the only girl who I had ever loved. It's hard for me to let go of all what we had. I just needed to distance myself and I promised myself that I would distance from you after the Japan trip. It's not you, it's me."
"But are you disappointed in me?"
"No, no! I'm not at all. Only in me. So, can we consider our relationship to be distant?"
"Yes, I'm fine with that. Just don't ignore me or yell at me, okay?"
"I won't."
"Okay then," she looked at him with a smile. "Thank you. I have to go now."
