Marinette stood in the shower as she let the water rain down on her. She was lost in thought looking down at the floor trying not to break down.
"Do you need help bathing?" Adrien asked as he walked in the bathroom.
She looked over her shoulder. "GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM YOU PERVERT!"
THAT GUY IS SO ANNOYING AND HE CALLS ME ANNOYING. GOD.
She got out of the shower and dried off. She put her clothes on and brushed her teeth. She quickly checked her phone before exiting the bathroom. "Hey, do you wanna just skip breakfast and—" She saw that he was starting to open a certain box that she left at the front door.
She ran towards the box and picked it up before he could open it. "AYIAH! YOU DON'T GOTTA LOOK IN THAT!" She held the box close to her.
"What is it?"
"NOTHING."
"Is it from Hao?"
"NO."
"You're acting so suspicious, senpai."
"I-it's nothing just some stuff. It's a hand me down."
"Did you look in it already, senpai?"
"No...I haven't yet."
"Are you planning too anytime soon?"
"No."
He sighed and started towards the bathroom. "Okay then."
She let out a sigh of relief as she looked down at the box. "I'm sorry..." She whispered softly to herself.
-FLASHBACK-
It was just a normal day. Two days after the event that occurred Marinette received a knock at the door. She opened the door and was surprised to see Tang and Felicity.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" She asked them.
"Just saying hi to you and to give you something that your mom wanted to give you, but never had the chance too." Felicity said.
Tang held out a medium sized cardboard box. "All the stuff is in here. I am very sorry though. She was a close friend of ours too and if you need anything please ask us."
"No, no I'm good. Thank you though." She took the box from Tang.
"She want to give you lots." Tang piped in.
"She wanted to give you it a long time ago, but—"
"Yeah, I know Felicity. I was just not worthy enough to her." Mari didn't want to hear how her mother thought of her. A useless person.
"No, no! It's all backwards!" Exclaimed Tang in shock.
"She didn't give it to you right away because she thought that she wasn't a worthy enough mother for you! She wrote notes to send to you, but could never get her words right! She planned to give you one note, but she couldn't send it because she was too late. Death overtook her. The note in here." Felicity tapped box a few times to signal that the note was in the box.
"Not worthy enough for me? Thank you though."
-FLASHBACK ENDED-
She took the box over to her closet and placed it in there along with another box. She closed her closet door and threw herself on her bed.
I am too scared to open the box. I just...don't want to look what is in there. It doesn't seem right. Now is not the right time.
"I wish you wouldn't do that, telling everyone I'm your daughter."
"What you mean? You so ashamed to be with your mother?"
"It's not that. It's just that it's so...embarrassing, that's all."
"What? Embarrassed to be my daughter?"
"That's not what I said."
"Then what you say? Look at me. Look at me!"
"Why do you have to use me to show off? If you want to show off, then why don't you learn to play mahjong?"
Was she telling everyone because she was proud of me? No, that can't be right...
"I'll never be the kind of daughter that you want me to be!"
"There two kinds of daughter: obedient or follow own mind. Only one kind of daughter could be a Cheng: obedient kind."
"Then I wish I wasn't your daughter! I wish you weren't my mom!"
"Too late to change this."
Did she just want the best for me...?
"I will never play mahjong again. I wish I was dead."
"One day quit, next day play. Everything for you is this way. So smart, so easy, so fast. Not so easy anymore."
Oh my God...I am a fool!
-FLASHBACK TO YOUNG SABINE AND HER MOM-
"Mommy...? Why did ah ma give you up?" Sabine asked.
"She wanted the best for me. She had hopes for me." Her mom replied.
"What were the hopes?"
"She told me that I am so lucky. She told me that I don't have ears like hers. She told me that I didn't have ears like hers. I would have a better life. Although, I must listen carefully to what is calling. She asked me if I could feel in my heart of what she was saying. She asked me if I would always keep it there because after that day she will never give me any more advice."
-FLASHBACK ENDED-
There Mari sat on the bed remembering the story that her mother listened to from her mom. Her mother told her what her mother told her. Now, that everyone left she felt lonely. She heard the shower turn off and she decided maybe to go talk to him. She prayed that he wouldn't see this as an advantage to sex.
"Hey Adrien." She opened the bathroom door seeing that he had pants on luckily. His hair was still wet and he didn't have his shirt on.
"Who's the pervert now?"
"I am not even going to fight that statement." She walked over towards him and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Senpai, are you still drunk?"
"No, but when I was drunk. What did I say about being lonely?"
"What?"
"BEING LONELY YOU IDOIT!" She yelled as she stopped leaning on him. "Sorry...I—just need a break for a second. I have to go to work now. See yah."
"You work on Saturdays? Also, working isn't a break."
I just can't ask him.
