My breathing steady, my heartbeat racing as I pump my legs faster. A small genuine smile forms on my face, the thrill of running in the morning helps to distract me from the reality of what is happening to me with every stride I take.

I feel my temperature rising, my heart beats harder, pumping blood throughout my body. Sweat drips down my forehead as my body temperature continue to rise. I feel the soft swift breeze of the wind hit my face as I turn round the track, along the road with Sam behind me on my right and Steve god knows where up a head.

Us three have made it our thing to go running in the mornings whether it's to stay fit or get your mind off things - I'm the latter.

I feel my adrenaline rising an aspect you can only get from a race. But the adrenaline for me right now is trying to burn away the demons that flare up inside of me.

You can almost make the hypnosis that I get into with my breathing. The "breathe in, breathe out" tempo begins my high. I ran like my life dependant on it- which for once it didn't but I did. I'm running to feel free, to feel like my running away from my problems for a little while at least.

It becomes this zone I get into. When I recreationally run, I don't get that runner's high that everyone gets. No. I run like I'm on top of the world that I am free and by my self to conquer it all. There's no one pushing me, there's no clock. Just me.

"Don't say it. Don't you say it!" Sam called out from behind me, I turn my head sideways over my shoulder slightly to see Steve running nearer towards us again for the millionth time this morning.

"On your left." Steve muttered before sprinting forward gaining speed as he zoomed past me. I chuckled shaking my head, as Sam screeched.

"I would like to see Edweirdo and Steve go against each other in a race." I mused to myself under my breath before picking up speed.

I hear Sam pant heavily from behind me, loudly. He groans as I run ahead faster, cursing out loud to himself. We run for another wee while before I see Sam heaving heavily sitting against a tree, with his hand on his stomach. I softly jog over to him, sweat formed on my forehead but my heart slowing down to a steady beat.

I fall down across from him doing some stretches. He looks up at me with a small pained smile. "Why do I always let him bring me every single time." He ranted as I shake my head chuckling into myself.

"Need a medic?" Steve called out towards the panting Sam. The latter chuckles half heartedly.

"I think he needs a new set of lungs, old age is getting to the poor lad." I amused out, shaking my head as I shift back slightly to lean against the tree opposite Sam's with Steve standing half way between us.

"Shut up, midget." Sam glared playfully with narrowed brows, flipping me off.

"Language." Steve stated, creasing his brows together in Sam's direction before shifting towards me. "And you be nice."
