79. Know-It-All

I gave a command to KIA to find about the car and the person who was driving the car that hit Jennie.

What she found is the model of the car. The year it was made. The branch that sold it. The employee who sold it. The owner of the car, who passed away 2 years ago. The owners family which was none, no family. He's not even that rich to be able to buy this car. So I guess someone paid him to buy it for them in his name. All the documents of this car is under his name so nothing there as well.

KIA is now looking at all the public camera's from the last 4 years, it was bought 4 years ago. There was nothing suspicious about the car till the last two months. It looked like the car was sold two months ago without any legal documents because the owner is dead.

After that it was not seen anywhere before 8th August. That day the car was seen roaming around the area of my apartment every day. It took only 15 minutes to find all this information, that's how fast my KIA is.

"Track all the movements of the car on the day of accident and play it for me on fast forward." After a few seconds the video was projected in front of me.

The car roamed around the area as usual. Parking the car at a few stops for a while but no one went in or out from the car. The windows were tinted so no one can see what's inside. At approx 7:45 the car took a sharp U-turn.

"Slow down", Within seconds the scene of Jennie's accident was projected in front of me. It was the first time I saw how it happened. It broke my heart to see how she got hit.

It looked like someone tipped the driver about Jennie's whereabouts.

In the next footage the driver was driving the car recklessly and soon after the last footage of the car crash was seen.

"How is it possible that no one's inside the car." I asked myself. I have already been here for almost an hour now checking the footage and I can't find anything important.

"KIA show the route of the car for last 8 days." 8 screens were project around the room. I moved around to see if there is anything common. It was a detailed data, showing how much time the car spent on one spot or how long it took to move from one point to another.

The only common area I found in all the footage was from an under-construction area. The area was not big, but enough to get out of public surveillance cameras. That car went there daily and stays there for almost 30 minutes but it only takes 2-3 minutes max to cross the area.

"Kia call Jack." I commanded and soon Jack was greeting me through the call.

"Send someone to the location I sent in disguise. Ask people there about the car that hit Jennie." He was giving instructions before I even completed my sentence.

"Kia find the company that is given contract of construction in that area and make a list of all the employees working there for the past 8 days." The company's name and list of employees was in front of me within seconds.

"Check the government and local surveillance cameras and identify all the people that passed through the area. Make a list of people who passed by daily for those last 8 days.

A list of almost 40 people came in front of me. Because there was a weekend too all the people who passed the area to go for their work were removed so the list was small.

"Is there anyone who went out and came back from the area in between the time that car was there." I asked and the reply was a simple No which means the driver didn't leave the area so someone must have been helping him there.

"Categorise these people in different lists. One for the employees of the constitution company." The list came in front of me right away.

"Next for those who spent more than an hour in the area expect for the construction workers. Last for the people who were present in the area only during the time when the car was there."

All 3 lists were there now. More than half of the people were workers for the construction company. Some people worked in the nearby places or were the family members of the constitution workers so they were mentioned in the 2nd list.

The 3rd list was short with only 3 people. One of them is definately involved in Jennie's accident.

"Get me the details of these 3 people." Their information was projected within seconds.

"Do they have any criminal record?" I asked

"No. No one had a criminal record." KIA answered as I read the information about our 3 suspects.

"Any reason they would need money for. Drug addiction, to pay debt or anything."

"Mr. Lee has a sister who is currently admitted in a hospital for heart transplant. They are waiting for the donor." I opened the so called Mr. Lee's information. His name is Lee Jiwon, he is just a teenager with no parents.

According to the information provided by KIA his sister was diagnosed by a heart disease 6 months ago. She was transferred from a public hospital to a private one only a month ago. Their financial status is not good to afford the hospital bills. I guess we have our guy.

"KIA show me the billing details of Jiwon sister's hospital bills."

"All the payments are done through cash by Mr. Lee himself." These people are smart, paying through cash so there is no track to follow.

"Track his activities for the last 40 days. See if he met anyone suspicious. Find the person who gives him money."

As KIA started going through the data I called Jack to see what he found.

"Did you find something on the constitution site?" I asked as soon as he greeted me through phone.

"Yes Lisa." Yup he calls me by my name, we are friends. "One of the worker said that he saw the car daily and the guy who drove the car never left without mask but he was built like a gangster with tattoos all over his arms and neck. Other than that he said he saw a kid meeting the man, he would deliver a bag and leave immediately."

"Can he identify the kid?" I asked back.

"Yes. I will transfer the call to Lucas. He is the one who investigated the site and is still in the area." Jack said and immediately transferred the call.

"Good evening ma'am." He greeted me formally.

"I'm sending you a picture right now. Ask the worker if he is the kid he saw."

"Yes ma'am" he said and KIA already sent the picture of Jiwon to Lucas. Soon after he confirmed that he is the kid who was seen with the person who was driving.

"Alright. I am sending you the details about this kid. Go and scare him a little, Try to get the description of the driver. Also get someone to look after his sister, don't make it look obvious, just ask them to stay on alert and wait for further instructions."

"I'll get to it right away ma'am." After I ended the call I instructed KIA to send the details to Lucas.

Jennie called soon after my call with Lucas. She was already bored and missed me. I guess I'll just wait for Lucas to get something out from the kid.

One thing I know now is that, it was not an accident. Someone tried to hurt my Jennie and I will make them pay for it.
