(AN: Sorry for not posting in a while, haven't really been in the mood to be writing recently but I've gotten back into it and should be posting more soon, I've got the story planned out so don't worry that the story will go without an ending. This is the longest chapter I've written (I think) so hopefully that makes up for it lol.)

[27/05/2055]

Australia, similar to many nations over the previous decades, faced the sheer brunt of the Omnic Crisis, but the long-lasting effects of the struggle between Humans and Omnics could be seen far longer within the island nation than many other countries around the globe. Australia as a nation was on the brink of destruction, the conflict tearing apart the nations, its civilian's lives and families and a deep-rooted hatred towards the machines, especially in more rural areas of the continent, only grew and grew. This dissatisfaction towards the situation from the Human's perspective with the Omnics was not settled by the conclusion of the Omnic Crisis, in fact it could be argued that the uneasy only inflamed tensions between the two groups, and many Aussies became radicalised, paramilitary groups arguing violence against Omnics becoming mainstream.

This situation only became more tense with what was described by many as a foolish and naive decision by the Australian government, formed after the end of the Omnic Crisis, promising reconciliation and peace between both groups, when they seemingly favoured the machines too much. The Omnium, massive in scale, and the only Omnium in the country, including the surrounding land, was gifted to the Omnic population as an olive-branch, attempting to begin a process of peaceful relations, yet this only seemed to have inflamed the already radicalised anti-omnic groups. Soon after, the Australian Liberation Front (AFL), was formed in an attempt to fight back against the Omnics and the government's seemingly pro-omnic viewpoint. This paramilitary organisation was mostly made up of a large number of displaced Aussies from the far-stretching Outback, including many farmers, survivalists, veterans, as well as people who simply wanted to be left alone and remain on their land, whose land was given to the Omnics.

The AFL quickly began a violent campaign of gorilla warfare against the Omnic settlers moving into their land in the outback, lighting a fuse that led to a civil war within the country between the steadily growing anti-Omnic coalition of many different groups (but most importantly the AFL) versus the national government and the Omnic population. While the conflict has only been raged for a year, the scars of a national schism have made itself clear, with the Aussies of the Outback identifying themselves with their own representatives rather then the government in Sydney, while the national government has little to no control over most parts of Westralia (Western Australia), excluding larger coastal cities.

While Overwatch has not been requested to step in by the national Australian government, a United Nations article decreed that the position in the country was untenable, with many humans and Omnics being killed every day, and thus a task-force was given the authority to enter the country. However, this small task-force was ill-prepared to deal with the fierce gorilla warfare and blistering heat of the Outback that the AFL members had been raised and brought up in, taking staggering casualties while providing little successes. From that point onwards it was decided that Overwatch was to not interfere with the Australian Civil War, letting the country fight amongst itself, yet behind the scenes Overwatch had not given up on the situation, with the issue being passed onto Gabriel Reyes' 'Blackwatch'. However, information from the infamous and secretive group's mission and results within Australia are thin and far between, and we have essentially no information on what occurred.

However, we do know a few details, significantly that Reyes only sent one single agent to investigate the situation, and that this individual went by the codename: "Doomsday". Information upon what this "Doomsday" achieved is, as previously stated, lost or destroyed, but key first-person accounts have suggested that this agent did little work for the national government, but rather fought alongside the Australian Liberation Front, though the legitimacy of these sources are questionable and up-to-debate. Either way, it must be questioned the role of Blackwatch and the real goals behind the leadership, seemingly ambivalent towards ending the conflict, rather just wanting an inside man to monitor and keep an eye on how the situation develops.
