It was late in October. The ground had long since frozen and snow had lightly fallen after the immense amounts of rain that had fallen. Xavier didn't know if his art studio on the outskirts of nevermore had lived through all the terrible weather.

It was quite cold when the tall brunette decided to walk through the woods. The frozen floor of the forest crunched beneath his feet and his breath made little clouds he would walk through. The cold hair nipped at his skin as he shivered, hands buried deep into his pockets.

When he was around half way to his studio he noticed the soft sound of an animal walking near him so he stopped and turned on his heel to observe a small black cat that froze when he did. It's e/c eyes stared up at him.

"What're you doing out here?" He asked the small animal as if he were expecting for it to answer as he crouched down to its level and reached out towards it slowly so it wouldn't get spooked. The small creature looked around before hesitantly walking forwards to press its body to Xavier's large hand. Its fur was cold and soft on his skin.

With a smile he stood back up and continued walking to his destination that was luckily still in one piece.

Xavier reached into his pocket and retrieved the key to the padlock on the outside. He had to shove on the door since it was frozen, making him jolt forwards with the force he put into it when it opened.

The same black cat from earlier ran inside and jumped onto the paint covered stood beside an easel.

"Hey!" He stared at the animal as it licked the pads of its feet in an attempt to warm them up because of the cold before it directed its focus to him and dropped its head to the side, its eyes had the intention of asking the brunette "What?"

"Well I can't leave you out there, you'd freeze" Xavier spoke more to himself than the cat as it kept on staring. He crossed his arms over his chest in thought while holding eye contact until he blinked.

"I'll let you stay here, how does that sound?" He asked the cat who gave a soft meow of agreement before jumping onto the floor and circling his legs, rubbing its body against his.

"Alright. Just don't mess with anything here" He instructed while walking into a corner to grab the random pillow he had in there and set it on one of his desks for the cat to use as a bed, which it immediately went to sit on and knead its pawn into.

"I also need to call you something if you're gonna be staying here" Xavier pulled the stool the cat had been sitting on moments before, over to the desk and sat on it.

"Are you a boy or a girl?" He asked. The cat's tail swished over and stopped on a pink splotch of dried pain on the surface.

"Okay" He nodded, happy and confused that an animal could comprehend human speech. "How 'bout you just... sway me when I say a name that you like?" He suggested and the cat nodded in agreement.

"Violet?"

No.

"Jessy?"

No.

"Saundra?"

No.

Xavier sighed.

"Y/n?"

The feeling of the cat's paw came into contact with his forehead gently before she rolled onto her back and started to swat at a loose strand of his long hair.
