Nevermore was a great place to be in. It provided shelter to all those outcasts who, for whichever reasons, couldn't stay at their real homes; the education was exquisite and apart from a dew but intense isolated occasions it had stayed out of trouble with the normies for the last decade. Its stone cold walls and dark hallways had become your home since the day you had set foot on the school. The familiar chill of air when the trees' leaves started changing colours was familiar by now. The stress and exhaustion, however, were unwelcomed.

Exams, tests, homework and assignments were dreadful everywhere, even in Nevermore, where academics was highly appreciated for it was considered the base for learning. And as a teen, just like everyone else around you — except for the ones who had been there centuries, because they weren't truly teens... right? — it was normal to be stressed about the expectations and goals set on your shoulders, either by your own self and others.

That, you had to add to the clubs. Ballet was already a complex and disciplinary form of art, and if you put that together with school... Well, it was safe to say you were in need of a well deserved rest. You had pushed yourself throughout the week, trying to keep yourself motivated so you could get things done, and now that it was Friday and the week was coming to an end, you let yourself fall into automatic mode as you stumbled your way out of your last ballet lesson. There was nothing in your mind but a white, loud noise which kept any coherent thought out of your mind. The only thing you wanted to do was shower, change clothes and sleep.

When you arrived at your dorm, no one was there — your roommate had told you about sneaking out with a vampire to go to the greenhouse, but there was no ability in your brain to recall it. You just got in the hot shower for some solid minutes and put your pyjamas on, which consisted of a tee your boyfriend Xavier had bought for you and some plaid, soft pants.

The t-shirt still smelled like him, as you noticed when you hid your face behind it, from the last time you two had slept in the same bed when he had sneaked into your dorm on Halloween. The fog on your brain dissipated almost instantly, an idea popping into your mind — there was nothing that could bring you more to life than being with Xavier. So, with your sore body, you got out of your dorm and made your way through the hallways, as sneaky as your exhausted self could be. You could reach his dorm with a blindfold, though. He wasn't the only rebel in Nevermore.

Once you reached his door you knocked softly — twice, to let him know he hadn't imagined the fires one. You waited patiently, guessing he would be at his desk drawing or sketching, quickly glancing at your sides while praying for no teacher to make a special appearance and catch you out of your dorm past curfew.

When he opened the door, he welcomed you with a burgundy t-shirt and pyjama pants, a quick grin coming to his face as soon as he saw you. He opened a bit more the door, but you were still unable to see his roommate's bed.

"Hey, baby" Xavier said, dimples forming at his cheeks when you smiled at him. How could he stop drawing you, when you looked this beautiful. Like heaven sent.

"Is Rowan there?" You said, rocking back and forth on your heels.

"Why, you looking for him?" He asked teasingly, putting a warm hand on your shoulder and helping you inside.

Rowan's bed was made but empty, and the door to the bathroom was wide open, letting you know you two were alone. As you stood there looking at everything like it was the first time, Xavier trailed off towards his desk, where his notebook laid open. He closed it with a soft movement of his hand, then turned around to see you already lying on his bed, a pout on your face making him smile.
