chapter 26 - let the games begin

I fisted my hands and rested them on my sides, glaring at Sebastian Sallow who stood there, looking so goddamned good in his Quidditch uniform for a Monday afternoon.

A Monday afternoon that also had us arguing with each other inside the Room of Requirement.

"You're not leaving this room, Y/n," Sebastian insisted, refusing to back down.

"I've already missed classes today, which—by the way—looks horrible on my school record, all because I've been resting. And I really hope to Merlin this isn't some ploy by you so you could outdo me in the ranks." I huffed out a breath. "I've rested enough. I'm not missing the Quidditch game!" I argued.

Today was the first game of the season and Slytherin was going against Gryffindor. I wanted to offer my support with Slytherin because Imelda and Sebastian were playing. I couldn't miss it!

"It's not that important! You're more important! Now, please," he grabbed my shoulders and started walking me back, "go rest. You're not fully healed."

I slapped his hands away, standing my ground. "What?! Yes, I am. I'm fine, Sebastian. You're being awfully dramatic."

I was lying a little because my side was still sore from my injury. But I was feeling good enough to watch a game of Quidditch.

I told him everything two nights ago. I told him about my father's threats, and how Marvolo and Morphina were here to watch my every move to make sure I didn't misbehave and ruined our family's image. I also told him about Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem and how it suddenly called for me because someone else was looking for it. And how I might need it.

He became overly protective after that, especially when I told him how the diadem hypnotized me which almost got me killed.

He became even more protective when I confessed to him what Alexander pulled on me inside the haunted tent during Halloween.

That same night, he told me about how he's been researching ways to cure Anne again. I became anxious when he told me because the one secret left that I hadn't told him was about Anne's whereabouts.

I would need to talk to Ominis about it today. I thought maybe it was time we told Sebastian about Anne.

Sebastian and I made a promise that we would keep researching about Rowena's diadem and Anne's cure in secret.

Who knew? Perhaps when I finally find that diadem under the lake, its knowledge might just help us find a cure for Anne too. But it was going to be difficult. Merpeople were safeguarding it and they were ruthless when they wanted to be.

I thought a lot about that Halloween night too. I realized my consciousness took me to the Slytherin dungeons after my lake adventures because I was scared I would die.

And the last thing I wanted to see was Sebastian. Just in case I did.

There was an invisible string that always tied me to him.

Sebastian scoffed, breaking me out of that thought. "Y/n, this game isn't that important. I'll tell you about it after, whether we win or not."

I almost rolled my eyes. "It is important!"

"Why?"

I almost said it was because he was in it, making me blush.
