chapter 54 - ruination

Y/n Gray

No one knew of the girl who hid in the shadows, cursing the land of ruination for they have taken the one thing that mattered most to her. The girl who traded her golden gown for the colour of death.

No one knew of the girl stepping out of the shadows as she pulled a black hood over her head, the blessed rain splattering on her matching armour as she got ready to strike the place she once called home, her thigh clad with glinting daggers.

No one knew of the girl who grew up and lost her girlhood faster than she would have liked to and who had fully accepted it until her world got torn away from her, readying to flood this territory with a river of crimson.

No. One. Knew.

Not even the wizards lurking at the gates of Gray Manor, a place that used to be her own version of a dreamy palace that was now cloaked in nothing but darkness.

Not the parents she tried to love growing up even if she did not feel an ounce of it, except perhaps with her mother.

Not her siblings whom she loved dearly, the sole reason she grew up feeling real love.

No one knew that she was here now to make her presence known...except perhaps Sebastian Sallow, whom she could feel would always sense her presence.

They'd always been tied with an invisible string. He might not be able to see her, but somehow, Y/n knew he could probably feel her presence. And she hoped it was enough to give him strength for as long as possible.

Y/n channeled her newfound powers through her body and into her wand. She had gotten even stronger over the course of her sixth year that she was sure she could control her magic without her wand, but she needed every advantage she could use.

She hadn't slept or eaten anything for at least a day now, her energy merely feeding off pure adrenaline and indignation, flames of fury coating her mind and heart.

Marvolo gave her three days to bring him the wand.

But she only needed one day to end it all.

Mud squelched under her boots as she strolled to the front gates, confidence and masked fury keeping her shoulders straight.

Recognition marked the faces of the two wizards guarding it. Upon closer inspection, Y/n also realized the wizards have changed since she was last here. Their attire told her what she needed to know.

They were all dark wizards.

"Miss Gray," one of them drawled.

Y/n heard the insinuation with those words, and she'd bet anything they were warned about her coming here. But judging from the look on this one, she was right, they weren't expecting her arrival so soon.

She's caught them off guard, giving her the upper hand.

From the corner of her vision, she saw the wizards reach for their wands slowly.

Y/n smiled, feigning good nature. "I'm here to see my father. Can you tell him his daughter is home?"

She kept her eyes forward, but in reality, she was assessing the situation in every corner as she had been for an hour behind that damned tree she was hiding in.
