chapter 73 - promises

Y/n's Perspective

Snow kissed my nose as I trekked the way to the main Hogwarts entrance, three heavy books clutched tight to my chest. Small puffs of clouds formed every time I breathed out, and despite my thick sweater and Ravenclaw scarf, the cold still stung my skin.

I tapped my boots on the carpeted floor, dusting them off from the snow as soon as I reached the warm sanctuary of the school. I sighed, relieved to finally be out of the cold.

Hogwarts was decked with Christmas decorations. Enchanted garlands hung on walls and on stairwell rails, a hint of cider floating in the cozy air. Hallways were filled with stars whooshing past sometimes. It felt like home.

It was home.

Christmas Eve was two days away, but I couldn't help but feel like a storm was approaching.

My head perked up when I heard my name.

"Y/n!" Sebastian jogged to me, his black sweater hugging his body well and I tried not to drool. "Where have you been?"

"I was studying," I answered, shrugging off my Ravenclaw scarf.

"Studying? In this weather?" He took my books off my hands and scarf, slinging it over his arm.

I murmured a thank you, finally glad my hands were free, then I said, "Yes. Studying. In case you've forgotten we've got NEWTs coming up at the end of the year."

Forget the fact we had a war to practically prepare for. Yup. Totally fine. This was the life.

Sebastian chuckled. "That doesn't answer my question as to why you would be studying in the snow."

I groaned. "There were some floras I had to study off the grounds, okay? They come out in the snow. Books can only teach you so much, so I thought I'd go study them in person."

"Of course, you would. Only you would study in any weather," he remarked with a smirk. "Now, come on. We've been waiting."
