Chapter 30 - Midnight Rain

Fifth year.

Beyond the Map Chamber.

During the battle of the Repository.

Ranrok was ruthless, doing anything to gain the magic. He'd already transformed into some kind of dragon.

It was all the same. Except Professor Fig wasn't with me. He was with the other professors, fighting goblins and other creatures in the previous area.

"Y/n, watch out!" A body slammed into mine, forcing me on the ground.

Sebastian covered his body over mine, his hands bruised and bleeding, blood also running down his forehead.

My eyes widened, watching another one of Ranrok's attacks aimed for us. I quickly pushed Sebastian off me, casting a protective charm over us.

"Get out of here, Sebastian. It's not your fight," I demanded.

"Are you bloody mad? I'm not leaving you alone!"

I hit one of the magic bubbles with Expelliarmus, redirecting the magic and hitting Ranrok.

I was panting hard, just as bloodied and bruised as Sebastian. But adrenaline kept me upright.

"You have to! I can handle him! My ancient magic can-"

The ground shook, Ranrok spewing out the strongest magic I've felt in my life.

Sebastian ran to me again, wrapping his arms around me for cover.

My magic was useless against this impossible, unimaginable offensive magic, and no protective charm could save me.

Could save him.

So he saved me instead.

"Sebastian?" My voice shook as I felt his once protective arms around me go limp.
