chapter 35 - echoes of the past

As expected, people were talking and whispering my name again because of what had occurred right after the game yesterday—when I got dragged out of that Quidditch pitch like a sack of potatoes by a certain Slytherin.

I'm going to kill Sebastian Sallow.

It was the morning after the Quidditch game and I was headed to Herbology class. I was still exhausted from yesterday in more ways than one thanks to him. He healed my ankle pretty well last night, but I needed a bit more healing tonic from Nurse Blainey at the Hospital Wing.

I picked up my pace when I found Sebastian turning the corner on the way to the greenhouse, strutting the hallways like he owned it. And yes, I saw that little smirk on his face.

I found the greenhouse empty when I reached it, only Sebastian was in there. I supposed it was still quite early before class began.

He sat down in his usual spot and without turning around he said, "Ah, you're early too. Come to finally sit beside me, Y/n?"

I paused at the threshold, clutching my bag strap and book closer to my chest. I was feeling temperamental today.

I stomped over to him at the same time he put his book down, turning around to look at me smugly.

Slamming my bag and books down on his table, I said, "People are talking, Sebastian."

"And?" He gave me a cocky grin, crossing his arms.

I scoffed. "And?! You know why! People can't know about us. It's dangerous," I pointed a finger at him, "and because of you, they're gossiping again about how I've moved on from Ominis. Again."

"You're cute when you're angry," he laughed.

"And you're getting on my last nerve," I fisted his Slytherin tie and pulled my face closer to his. "Be serious, Sebastian!" With him sitting down on the stool, we were practically the same height, so it was easy to do.

I couldn't care less what would happen to me if word ever reached Marvolo or Morphina. But I cared about him. Too much.

He only kept grinning, his eyes scanning me from left to right, before falling on my lips and then back to my eyes again.

"I am serious," he leaned forward, voice going dangerously low, "serious about wanting to kiss you right now."

"Ugh!" I pushed him off, furiously collecting my things from his table. I was blushing, hard, but damn was he insufferable.

Sebastian clutched my wrist before I could walk away, forcing me to twirl and get caged in between his legs.

"You're not going to sit beside me? This spot has always been reserved for you."

I rolled my eyes, trying not to get wonderstruck by his handsome, freckled face and beautiful eyes.

"It's Aura's spot," I said.

"No it's not. You were just too stubborn not to sit here at the beginning of the year, so she did."

"Why are you defending her?" Jealousy came out of my voice.

Sebastian looked entertained at my jealousy. "I'm only stating facts. But this was always your spot. You always belonged beside me, no?"
