Chapter 14

I was already beyond angry at this whole situation. This fucker, whoever he be, had put the final nails in his coffin. I didn't want her involved in this whatsoever yet here we are.

He'd hurt her.

"Just be fucking careful, you sure you don't want me to come in?" Xander told me through the phone

"I'm always careful and no, you need to stay put" I sigh, "are they with you yet?"

"they're coming outside now, Jax is talking her ear off" he laughed

"of course he is" I rolled my eyes.

Jaxon was probably one of the best people to be with in situations like this. He made everything less fucking terrifying. He just seemed to have that effect.

"alright, i'll call you back in a minute"

"be careful" was all I heard before I hung up the call.

I made my way down the dark hallways. Literally nobody was here which seemed strange.
I'm not sure who I was looking for, I just knew that it was the the individual behind the door in front of me.

I pushed it open to see him already sitting facing me.
It wasn't Ricardo, he was too young but I would put money on it being his son.

"you're quick" A smirk rose to his face, "i'll give you that"

He stood up from his chair, tucking it under the table.
I didn't say a word as I watched him move around.
He was covered in blood, i'd say part of it was his own based on the cut lip he was currently wearing.

"neither of you will be leaving here alive" He pulled up his sleeves as he started edging towards me.
I remained still as he closed the distance between us.

"my father will be here any minute, i'd kill you but he wants to do that himself"

"as fun as that sounds, that won't be happening today" I replied bluntly.
It agitated him. His smug attitude seemed to disappear once I spoke.

"you don't get to make that decision" his teeth clicked together as a scowl formed on his face.

I simply laughed which made him angry. He rushed towards me, raising his arms up. I grabbed it, using it to push him down to the ground.
"not as easy when they're the same size as you, is it?" I hissed

"she asked for it" he grinned.

I didn't have anytime to process or think through my next action. My fist met his cheek before i'd even thought about it.

I kept going until there was a puddle of blood surrounding us.
He tried fighting back but it was useless. He was fucking useless.

I stood back and watched him squirm in agony in front of me.
He tried to sit back up but I shot him back down before that was possible.
He yelped out in pain and tried grabbing for me.

"give your father my regards" I bent down beside him, taking the small necklace out of his pocket. That most definitely wasn't his.

I grabbed her phone and keys off the table before standing up again.
He didn't say anything else as I walked away. Thank God because his voice was annoying as hell.

I headed outside. Evie and Jax were sat on the edge of the sidewalk and Xander had the car door open as he spoke to them.
They all looked up at once, seemingly all relieved to see me.

"that was longer than a minute" Evie whispered

"I have a good reason" I held the necklace out in front of her
