I don't know where the sudden change in weather had come from but I didn't much appreciate it.
It was nearly pitch black outside as the rain pelted down against the car.
It was extremely difficult to drive in, I won't lie.

"you hungry?" I glanced over at her, she stared out the window in front of us, seemingly in her own world.

"hm?" she hummed without even turning to look at me.

"you hungry sunshine?" I laughed as I repeated myself.

She gave me a soft smile as her eyes met mine, "a little"

I pulled into the small diner up ahead, i'd taken Xander here a few times after school, so I knew it well enough.
"we're going to get drenched" her eyes widened.

"that's what makes it fun, c'mon" I get out of the car, letting the rain soak through my clothes immediately.

I watched her hesitantly make the decision to join me.
"you could bloody shower in this" she shook her head as she she walked towards me.

She quickly placed her hand in mine, gripping it tightly as we walked in.
The place was actually quite full, clearly I wasn't the only one not keen on driving in that weather.

"I thought these places only existed in movies... or riverdale" she looked around in awe.

"you watched that show?" I pulled us along to a free table.

"just the first season" she replied, "then it got weird"

Weird was an understatement.
Jax made us watch an episode and I was lost fucking 30 seconds in.

She fiddled around with the menu a little, deciding what she wanted.
I watched around the room, looking for anything that shouldn't be there but right now everything seemed normal.
I was more on edge than ever but I was desperately trying to hide that from her.

"i'll go and order, just tell me what you want" I pulled the menu away from her face.

"Chips" she grinned

"is that all?" I laughed as I stood up.

"mhm" she nodded, "just the chips...oh and water"

"alright" I force a smile on to my face as I walk up to the counter.

"what can I get you- Nate?" The familiar voice spoke.

Oh great!

Her dark hair and dark eyes instantly had me jumping back to a time in my life I didn't want to remember.
"Katie" I nodded

"how have you been?" she beamed as her eyes looked me up and down.

"alright, you?" I sighed

"good, I'm still going through college" she continued, "you didn't go right?"

"nope" I shook my head.
I didn't want to seem stand off ish but I wanted to order and go and sit back with my wife, she was stopping that.

"well seems like your quite successful anyways" Once again her eyes were looking me up and down

"sure" I pulled my card out of my wallet, hoping that would edge her on.
