BORUSARA - Oneshots xx

Are you afraid of me?

Boruto did not know how long he had been sitting on that bench in the park. He had only just noticed that the sun was setting. He knew he had to go home, but he was unable to move. His mother was probably fixing dinner and later that evening they would all go to bed. And after that ? What would happen ? If he fell asleep, Momoshiki would take control of him and his whole family would be in danger. His hands were shaking. He had never been so terrified. He must not sleep, he thought. He had to do everything not to sleep. It was out of the question that anyone would be in danger because of him.

'Boruto ?'

Boruto looked up and saw Sarada in front of him. He had not heard her arrive, or even felt her chakra.

'Is everything alright ?'

He could see the worry in her eyes. He smiled to reassure her.

'Yes everything is fine.'

But Sarada did not believe him and he blamed himself for worrying her. She sat down next to him. A thought crossed his mind and he shuddered. What if Momoshiki took control of his body and hurt Sarada ? His hands were shaking again. He had to keep control of himself, he had to protect Sarada, even from himself. If anything happen to her... Boruto shook his head. He refused to think that. Sarada put her hands on his. This simple gesture calmed his shaking down a little and reassured him.

'You can talk to me if you want to,' she said.

He closed his eyes. He wanted to talk to her, he really wanted to. He knew he could tell her his fears, he trusted her more than anyone. But after what happened, after what he did to Sasuke. He felt Sarada squeezed his hands as if to give him courage. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes.

'Do you know what happened with Jigen ?'

Sarada nodded.

'Since Momoshiki took possession of my body, I have been terrified. If I fall asleep and he reappears, I'm afraid of what I might do. I risk hurting my family, the villagers, you. I am a danger to all of you.'

'Boruto, you can never hurt us.'

'But I hurt your father.'

'It wasn't you. I know you and I know you never meant to hurt him and he knows it too. I also know that you are much stronger than you think. You were able to regain control.'

He looked at her. She sounded so sure of what she was saying. He could see the confidence she had in him in her eyes and he did not want to lose it.

'You are not alone,' Sarada continued. 'I will always be there for you.'

'You are not afraid of me ?'

'Of course not. I could never be afraid of you.'

Boruto felt like some of the weight he had on his chest was gone. He rested his head on Sarada's shoulder. She was surprised at the gesture, but she relaxed and rested her head on his. Boruto looked at their linked hands. He did not want to let her go. He wanted to enjoy the warmth and comfort that she was giving him a little longer.
