CHAPTER 3:Found Her, Keep Her

Sarada drummed her fingers on the table. She propped her elbow and then rested her cheek on her palm. She continued to drum her fingers as a small pout formed on her lips. Her eyes stayed glued to the door, waiting for her 'date.'

"This isn't a date!" she scowled to herself, low enough for only her to hear.

The bell overhead dinged, catching her attention. The pout on her lips remained, even until Boruto sat down across from her.

Unlike her, he wore a big grin on his face. "Excited to see me, huh?"

"You're late!" Sarada huffed.

"No, you're early." His grin grew a little wider. "It's cool. I know I have that effect on people."

The nerve! His cocky behavior proved to be infuriating but it appeared that Boruto really thought he was God's gift to the world. "You're so annoying." Sarada rolled her eyes.

"And yet you're here," Boruto leaned forward and winked at her, "Did you order anything yet? I love this place." He raised his hand and asked for a menu. "Order anything you like. I'm not stingy with my dates, especially if they're as hot as you."

The back of her neck burned and heat crawled up to the tip of her ears. She looked away to hide her flushed cheeks. "Why did you even ask me to come here? You don't even have my book with you."

She noticed that he didn't carry a bag, neither did any of his pockets appear big enough to carry it.

"Damn. You were seriously checking me out, huh?" Boruto laughed. He accepted the menus and handed her one. "Oh calm down, I'm just teasing you. Unless..."

Sarada hid her face behind the menu and willed her cheeks to cool down. She had always considered herself to be good at keeping her emotions in check, however, something about Boruto melted all of her composure away. She peeked at him, and tried her best to figure it out.

Boruto kept his eyes on the menu, oblivious that he was being observed so intently by his date. Perhaps it's his eyes, Sarada thought. They're so clear and blue, and they never look away from me when he's speaking.

"If you keep looking," Boruto said, without removing his gaze from the menu, "I may just have to charge you."

Whoops. Sarada added to her 'non-existent list of observations about Boruto Uzumaki' that he pays more attention than meets the eye. He caught her red-handed. There was only one thing left for her to do.

"I was not looking!" Sarada denied. It was stupid to even deny it, but she had to save what remained of her dignity. "Ugh, could you please just give me my book back?"

"It's in my dorm," Boruto replied, and placed the menu down. "Why don't we go there after here?"

"I already said I wasn't going to Ninflix and chill with you!"

"Relax, I wasn't even implying that last night, alright? I'm a gentleman ." Boruto smiled at her ever so charmingly. His lips then turned into a sly smile. "But if that's what you're into, I'm not going to refuse." Sarada was about to explode, but got cut short when the waitress arrived to take their orders. Boruto ordered for her, and surprised her when he ordered her a strawberry milkshake. "Their milkshakes are the best, ya know? Second best thing after their burgers," he explained.

Sarada swallowed. Strawberries are her favorite. But she would not be swayed or bought. "Again, I won't be doing that with you." She crossed her arms across her chest. "So, if you could please just return my book—"
