When Things Were Simple

"Do you remember when things were simple?"

"Yeah, what about it."

"Don't you miss those days, where we wouldn't have to worry about a single thing, except for those stupid arguments we would get into?" I look up at the night sky, here we were laying under the stars on top of Hokage mountain.

"Boruto, I do miss those days too. Whether we like it or not it's a part of life, we are forced to let go of the simple days when we were kids. One day we can have our own simple days." She always knew what to say. I knew when we were younger that, but now she always seems unfazed by most things. Maybe I'm worried about little things. I turned on my sides to look at her, I reached out for her hand to grab it. Our fingers intertwined, she also turned on her side, I pulled her hand closer, giving her hand a peck.

"How can you so be so sure?"

"I like to think it's because I have my friends and family that give me hope that one day that we can create our own simple days." I couldn't help but smile at her. She always finds a way to make things seem like they were going to be alright. Even though she doesn't think so. With everything that has happened in the last few months, I was starting to doubt if things we going to work out in our favor. I look into those beautiful onyx eyes of hers. I remember why I fight so hard for those days to come. She was my reason.

"Why do keep on looking at me like that?"

"I was just admiring your beauty." I noticed a strain of hair fall on her face. I took my other hand and pushed it behind her ear. She really was beautiful and no one could tell me otherwise. I noticed her blush across her cheeks. It didn't hit me until now that I noticed bags under her eyes. Sarada has always worked hard, but especially now I worry if she pushes herself too hard.

"Boruto you shouldn't say things like that?!" After all these months that we have been together, she acts shy about these things. It was honestly adorable.

"Well, you are my girlfriend after all. That means I have to look after you." I cupped her cheek with my hand and my thumb caressed under the bags of her eyes.

"I also have to take care of you. Don't worry I'll be fine it's just stress causing me not to sleep well." I knew there was more to it, but I decided not to bring it up. We finally had time to ourselves, I didn't want to ruin our moment.

"Right now, how about we don't think of the stressful things." I pulled her close to me. I didn't want to let her go. I didn't want this moment to end, for one moment we could forget who we are.

"I would like that." Her arms wrapped around me. At that moment, our lips connected.

"Sarada, I promise after all of this is over we can have our own simple days," I said, holding her putting her head close to my chest. I look down to see her eyes were closed and soft, steady breathing. I couldn't help but smile, she fell asleep in my arms. She really was tired. I was going to make sure after all of this is over I'm going to make our own simple days.

After lying here on top of the Hokage mountain with Sarada in my arms, I decided it was best to get her home, so Auntie Sakura and Master Sasuke don't worry. I pick her up in my arms and carried her home. I could see lights on from her home, meaning one of her parents were still up. Master Sasuke opened the door when I got to the front door, he looked down to see Sarada fast sleep in my arms. He let me carry Sarada to her room, I laid her down on her bed. I didn't to turn off her alarm clock knowing that she needed her rest, not caring she would come after me tomorrow.

I walked downstairs to see master Sasuke he looked relieved.

"Boruto, thank you." I nodded, he shouldn't really be thanking me now.

"No, thank you, sensei." I took my leave. I made a promise that I would protect her and be her right-hand man. I'm always going to be by her side. No matter what kind of days we have.
