Chapter 26

Min Yoongi and Taehyung went outside to meet Jimin and J-Hope.

Taehyung: We found his phone.

Jimin: We found his car, and this note inside.

Taehyung: "Where one feels safe". Oh God.

Min Yoongi: Those were the words that Felix said.

J-Hope: There was nothing else in the car. We don't have our kit to check for blood. What should we do about the car?

Taehyung: I will drive it back to my place... after we go to Chris's house. Take me to his car.

When Taehyung entered Jungkook's car and started it; he began to cry as he drove Jungkook's car following Min Yoongi.

J-Hope: Do you think Taehyung will ever be okay if we don't find Jungkook's remains?

Min Yoongi: It is going to be hard on him for sure. We must be there to support him no matter what.

Jimin: Yes, this case has changed our lives and we all nearly got killed.

J-Hope: I want this case to be closed permanently.

Min Yoongi: Yes. The Commissioner closed the case officially, but he is not aware that this case is not closed. Once we find the remaining three moles, exposing them and arresting them will officially close this case.

As they got near Chris's house, they parked a few blocks down and walked to the door. The lights were on, but there was no movement that could be heard.

Min Yoongi: Taehyung, search around the back and then come back here. Once the back is cleared then we will knock on the door.

Taehyung: Alright. Be back soon.

Taehyung walked softly and searched for the back of the premise. He looked inside the window and saw the kitchen. There was no sign of Chris. Taehyung continued to search and got to the garage. He peeked inside and saw that there was a car inside. He figured Chris must be inside somewhere and headed back to the others.

Taehyung: There is a car in the garage and the lights are on in the kitchen, but I did not see him or hear anything on the inside.

Min Yoongi: Okay, let's go to the front door.

J-Hope: Wait a minute.

Min Yoongi: What?

J-Hope: What are we going to do once we find him?

Min Yoongi: We are going to question him.

Jimin: What if he refuses?

Taehyung: Knock him out and take him to the safe house for questioning.

J-Hope: What?

Min Yoongi: Sounds good to me, let's go now.

Min Yoongi and Taehyung moved before Jimin, and J-Hope could say anything. Min Yoongi knocked on the door. There was no response after waiting for a few minutes. Taehyung pulled out a pair of gloves and put them on before turning the doorknob. The door opened.

Min Yoongi looked at Taehyung before looking at Jimin and J-Hope.

Min Yoongi: You two stay here while we check inside. (Jimin and J-Hope nodded).

Taehyung walked in first and had his weapon drawn and Min Yoongi followed as well. Taehyung signaled Min Yoongi that he will check upstairs, and Min Yoongi searched the bottom floor. As Taehyung walked upstairs the first door on his right was the bathroom. No one was inside. He searched the first door on his left, which was an office, and no one was inside. He continued to walk down the hall until he arrived at the bedroom. As he got closer, he began to smell something that was awful. It was the smell of flowers mixed with something that was sour and foul. He slowly opened the door and to his horror, he found Chris badly decomposing. He immediately went downstairs to find Min Yoongi.

Taehyung: Min Yoongi.

Min Yoongi: Yeah.

Taehyung: I found him, and he is dead.

Min Yoongi: What?

Taehyung: He has been here for a while. Jimin, J-Hope come inside.

Taehyung showed them where the body was. Min Yoongi looked around the room to see if he could find any clues as to what happened to Chris. Taehyung searched the drawers and found a journal. He began to read the journal and his eyes began to widen.

Taehyung: Min Yoongi, I found a journal. You are not going to believe what is in here.

Min Yoongi: What does it say?

Taehyung: I can no longer continue to do this. I can't believe that Ming Mason chose me to do this task that could have ended my life. It was such an honor to follow a man like him, but he is scary as hell. I never understood how the four of us would be okay providing him with information about the people we had been planted on the inside to retrieve. I was an intern at the examiner's office. The only information that I could provide for him was that the two lead medical examiners were very good at their jobs. I do not know what Brian, Jamie, and Lorraine found out about their people, but we all know that if we did not give Ming what he wanted; his right-hand man, Lin will kill us. I cannot be tortured by that man ever again. So, I have decided to go on my own terms. No one knows who I am and will not be missing me.

Min Yoongi: Jesus. The guy killed himself.

Jimin: Well, based on the level of decomp, he has been dead for at least forty-eight hours.

J-Hope: Jimin, look here. These look like marks of something sharp penetrating the flesh here.

Jimin: What are we going to do? We must get him back to the lab to perform an autopsy on him. We have already found him, how we going to explain this?

Min Yoongi: I am thinking...

Taehyung: We can do an anonymous call for a welfare check. When the lab exploded everyone was sent away to work different labs right, Jimin.

Jimin: Yes, that's right.

Taehyung: The call can be made saying that Chris has not come to work in two days, and no one has seen or heard from him.

Min Yoongi: Good thinking. We need to leave things like they were before we entered inside.

Taehyung: I am taking the journal. He has revealed the names of the other moles and we can try to figure out what their last names are.

Min Yoongi: Taehyung...

Taehyung: Please, sir. Trust me. If Jimin and J-Hope determined that he did not die by suicide, then we can anonymously send this to them like Felix did. We need to thoroughly go through this journal before we hand it over. His death being connected to Felix will reopen the case and alert the other moles. There could be another leader already selected to take Felix's place.

J-Hope: He is right. There could be another leader and we need to get out of here too.

Min Yoongi: Yes, he is right. Let's go, the first thing in the morning, Taehyung will continue to update Namjoon. I will make the call. You two act like nothing happened. We will meet again, but this time let's meet at the safe house to have our discussion. We will carpool from Taehyung's place.

Jimin: Okay, let's do this.

Min Yoongi: Taehyung, we have our first session at noon tomorrow. Update Namjoon quickly so we can be on time.

Taehyung: Yes, sir.
