Summary:

Nick Nelson isn't one for admitting when he's unwell but when he falls really poorly, he's lucky to have a lovely mum and a devoted boyfriend there to take care of him.
Notes:

Hellooo! It's me, here again! With another sick fic? Of course! So this was supposed to be just a little drable of poorly nick and caring protective Charlie and Sarah but of course, as usual I got carried away writing and this is a lot longer that it was initially going to be so therefore I have decided to make it more than one chapter, well that is as long as this doesn't flop lol.

Also the title may or may not be inspired by the 1975 song robbers, as it was on when I started wiring this haha! I have tweaked the lyric just a little, so that it fits! Anyway I'll stop rambling on and I hope you like this, Kudos and comments are always much appreciated!
Work Text:
Nicks not sure at what time during the night it happened but all he was aware of when morning came was the 2 extra blankets wrapped around his body. Normally he was warm enough during the night and Sarah kept the temperature in the house pleasant. Usually, Nick would wake up with his king sized duvet at the foot of his bed. But this morning in particular. He was cold, unusually cold. He didn't even remember fetching those extra blankets during the night. He pulled himself in to a sitting position and grabbed his phone from the nightstand and that's when he realised he felt off. The rawness in the back of his throat, the heavy feeling in his head and the aches that travelled through his body. He felt tired and congested. I need a warm shower, that will help he thought to himself.

The hot shower did the complete opposite effect on what Nick was hoping for. He stepped out and wrapped himself in a towel. The cold instantly hit him. What's wrong with me today. Shivering, he tiptoed back in to his bedroom and closed the door behind him, smiling as he saw the bundle of fur curled up on the end of the bed, waiting for his return and almost as if on cue Nellie pounced off the bed and jumped up on Nick's legs excitedly.

He crouched down and let her lick his face, like she did every morning. "Morning Nellie, Girl." just as a wave of dizziness overtook his body and he ended up flat on his backside, panting heavily and leaning on the bed for support. Nellie, oh the ever so clever Nellie detected right away that something wasn't right as she climbed on to Nick's lap and snuggled in to him. "I'm Ok, Nel." he whispered. "Just a little dizzy is all..."

Sarah flicked the kettle on to boil and grabbed her and Nick's favourite mugs from the drying rack on the side. Both mother and son were exactly like one another when it came to their morning cuppa, can't function without it. She prepares the cups and frowns. Nick is normally downstairs by this time. It has been at least 20 minutes since she heard the shower go on and then click off several minutes later.

"Nicky? Breakfast is getting cold." She calls up the stairs before placing Nellies bowl in the usual spot. "Nellie." She calls and seconds later she heard the familiar scuffle of the stairs and the brown and white fluff ball enters the kitchen for her own breakfast. Sarah was just about to sit down with her own breakfast when Nick enters. She instantly noticed that he didn't look well at all. His skin is ghostly pale although his cheeks are fever pink, the dark bags under his eyes indicate the evident lack of sleep. His hair is sticking up from every angle. Which is very unlike him as he's usually so cautious about how his hair looks and getting it to sit the usual way. His shirt is crumbled, the top two buttons undone and his tie slung lazily around his neck. "Nicky??" Sarah asked, taking in his dishevelled appearance. "Are you feeling ok baby?"

Nick glanced at his mum as he shoves his homework that had been scattered across the dining table in to his school bag and gave her a small nod. Unconvinced, Sarah reached out and rest her hand against his forehead, she frowned as she dragged the back of her knuckles down to rest on his cheeks. The heat radiating off of him is like a radiator turned up on full. "You're burning up." Sarah exclaims "Sit down." She instructed her son as she rummaged in the kitchen drawer and found what she was looking for.
