Summary:

It's become a routine that Charlie ties Nick's tie, even though he's more than capable of doing it himself.
Notes:

It may as well be called flufftober.
Work Text:
It's just another thing that has become a routine between them. It doesn't make any sense, really - they've both been tying their own ties since they were young. Heck, they wore them almost every single day of their early relationship.

And yet somehow it's become normal for Charlie to tie Nick's tie for him, gently settling it around the back of his flipped up collar and smoothing the ends forward, leaning in for a quick kiss before looping and tucking the tails together into a perfect knot that he slides up to settle at the base of Nick's throat. The backs of Charlie's fingers brush against the sensitive skin, making Nick shiver every single time, no matter how many dozens of times they've repeated this same pattern.

The first time it had been a silly gesture. Nick was grumpy after a terrible night's sleep and grumbling about having to put on a suit and tie for some event now long forgotten. Charlie gently pulled the tie from Nick's hands and looped it around his neck, using the ends to pull them together in a kiss. Nick relaxed into the kiss, and Charlie kissed him for a moment longer before pulling back to finish making the knot, one hand resting against Nick's broad chest even once the tie was in place.

"Thank you," Nick said, placing his own hand over Charlie's.

"Anytime." They both smiled and then swayed together into another kiss until Charlie pulled away once more, announcing that they needed to leave.

The next time they got dressed up, Nick simply held out his tie to Charlie, pouting just slightly in a way he knew Charlie could never resist, until the younger man shook his head with a smile and took the bit of silk between his long fingers.

After that it was just assumed. They would get dressed, and Nick would pick up his tie of choice, holding it out to Charlie in both offer and request. Each time, Charlie made a show of shaking his head or rolling his eyes at the silliness of this man, but each time he would take the tie from Nick's hands and rest the length of silk around the blond's neck, pulling them together in a kiss before making a perfect knot and sliding it into place.
