Summary:

Charlie was more than ready to settle in bed with Nick for the night. He eagerly chased his boyfriend up the stairs towards his room, making grabby hands for Nick's sweatshirt.

"Oi, give me a minute," Nick grumbled, batting Charlie's hands away as he tugged at the hem of the jumper. "Charlie, I'm literally trying to take it off, for you!"

"Well, you aren't taking it off fast enough, so I thought that I could give you a hand." He gave Nick a cheeky grin and nearly sighed in happiness when Nick tossed him his sweatshirt.

"Your pajama pants are in your bag, right Char? I can grab them for you."

Charlie was so enthralled in swapping his cardigan and t-shirt for Nick's jumper; still warm and smelling like his boyfriend that he failed to hear not only Nick, but the sound of his bag being opened. It wasn't until Charlie heard Nick's gleeful, "oh hello!" that he remembered what exactly was in his bag.

--

Charlie's spending his first night over at Nick's, and he's quite nervous about bringing Kitty with him and what his boyfriend's reaction will be.
Notes:

hello! as someone who is far too old and still has a stuffed animal that they sleep with every night, Kitty has a very special place in my heart. i hope you enjoy how disgustingly in love these two idiots are with each other - hestia :)
Work Text:
Kitty was staring at him.

Charlie sighed from his spot on the floor, half of the contents of his overnight bag piled around him. He was heading over to Nick's shortly and the more he packed into his bag, the more nervous he felt. It was the first time that he was going to be staying the night at Nick's, just the two of them; none of their other friends, not even Nick's mum would be home. It would also be the first time that he was leaving Kitty behind.

He'd long since stopped caring about his friends seeing Kitty after Tao had caught sight of his ears poking out of Charlie's sleeping bag during one of their first movie nights. Charlie had been mortified, but Tao had merely shrugged and reached under his pillow to pull out the most threadbare t-shirt that Charlie had ever seen. Tao had awkwardly mumbled his way through a quiet explanation that it was his father's before giving Charlie a supportive nod, and that was the end of it. After that, he'd always brought his beloved stuffie along on movie nights; but there was a nagging feeling at the edges of his mind that was preventing him from bringing Kitty to his boyfriend's house. There wouldn't be anywhere to hide him without Nick seeing or finding him. It wouldn't be like their previous movie night sleepovers where Charlie could hide Kitty in the safety of his own sleeping bag, the heavy layers of fabric disguising him from Nick when they cuddled at night. This would be just the two of them, in Nick's bed without the protection of their sleeping bags between them.

"I'm sorry," he said aloud, tearing his eyes away from his bed, where Kitty was tucked snugly under the comforter. "I just can't bring you tonight." His throat burned, partially from the embarrassment of speaking to his stuffed animal and the shame of being fifteen years old and still relying on him for comfort at night.

Charlie quickly cleared his throat and shoved the last of his things into his bag before racing out of his room, ignoring the glossy button eyes that stared after him. He thundered down the stairs and fumbled with his converse, yanking them on and tying them as quickly as he could, looking to get out of the house before he could second-guess his decision.

Maybe he was too old for a stuffie anyways. Nick certainly didn't have a stuffed animal or blanket that he relied on, and he was older than Charlie, so he probably wouldn't even want to share a bed with his younger boyfriend and a dingy, old stuffed cat.
