Work Text:
Tori Spring was riding on a train with her younger brother, Olly. They were on the way to see Nick and Charlie, and their daughter, Annabelle. This would usually sound sweet for most people, but Tori was feeling uneasy.

It had been years since she last saw Charlie. One day he was home, celebrating Christmas with their family during his last year of university, and the next day he was on a train, back to his flat with nick.

He was supposed to have stayed the whole weekend but it was...rough. Charlie had started to transition at that time, without telling their parents, and they hadn't taken it very well. The whole weekend was pretty shit, but Tori assumed that being around everyone on Christmas and having everyone invade his privacy was just too much.

There was also the whole...transphobic parents thing. They tried to be supportive when Charlie showed up, but Tori could tell that they weren't actually trying that hard or even caring. They had asked a thousand questions about why he was transitioning, like was he just doing this because of college, and telling him he should move back home. That all probably felt terrible for Charlie.

He messaged Tori that he was pregnant around a month after that Christmas, and that he wasn't planning on coming back anytime soon. That it wasn't her fault, he just couldn't handle seeing their parents again.

Tori didn't blame him for leaving and not looking back.

But, at the same time, she did. Their younger brother, Oliver, had just entered secondary school at the time. Olly was already dealing with that, but dealing with essentially losing Charlie? That hurt him. And Tori had to be there for him. Because god knows their parents weren't going to help.

Tori thought that Charlie would eventually come back, with Nick, and maybe even their daughter. But he didn't. And eventually she realized that he probably never would.

After a short, impulsive phone call earlier that month, she had asked Charlie if they could spend Christmas together this year at their new house, and if she and Olly could come over. He had agreed, a bit faster than she thought he would.

So here she was.

Tori looks next to her, at Oliver's anxious yet excited appearance. Olly had voiced his concerns about today earlier to her, he seemed to be worried that Charlie didn't like him or something. She assured him that no, it was not him, it was just their parents but Olly hadn't seemed totally reassured. But, again, he was just always a bit on edge.

Tori sometimes worried, since he had changed a lot over the years, but deep down he was still the same energetic, optimistic kid. And, despite both of their worries, Olly had also seemed excited to see Nick again. Tori remembers how whenever Nick used to come over when he and Charlie got together, Oliver would bounce around for hours before with excitement. At one point he was just excited that Charlie and Nick were together because it meant he would get an older brother.

Tori returns back to looking out the window, choosing to not talk to Olly yet, since awkwardly staring at someone while you think about them wasn't something that interested her at the moment.
