21. "But if you stay, you'll get sick too."

Nick and Charlie had spent every day together in Paris, so it kind of made sense that they were struggling to be back to their normal, not living together lives. Charlie spent as much time as he could at Nick's and Nick was happy to let him. Nicks's mum even bought lots of safe snacks for Charlie and kept plenty of tea in the house so they wouldn't run out during their movie marathons.

One Saturday, Nick was sitting on the couch scrolling through the photo album on his phone that he'd made of all the photos he and Charlie were in together. He was waiting for Charlie to arrive so they could scramble up to Nick's room and put a movie on, just to kiss through the whole thing and not know what had happened by the end.

Glancing at the clock on the wall, Nick frowned. Charlie was running late, which wasn't like him. Before Nick could even type out a text, the doorbell rang.

Nick jumped up and ran over to the door, pulling it open to find a bedraggled looking Charlie. "Okay, Char?" Nick asked, stepping aside to let his boyfriend in.

"Course," Charlie said, stepping close to Nick and leaning in for a kiss. "I missed you."

"We saw each other ten hours ago," Nick said. "But I missed you, too." He grabbed Charlie's hand and pulled him up the stairs, only letting go once they were in a pile on his bed. "Still want to watch Spirited Away?" Nick asked, grabbing his laptop from where he kept it beside the bed.

"If you want. I'm actually feeling a little sleepy, might fall asleep soon."

Nick sat up a bit and looked over his boyfriend. He was pale, more pale than normal, and he had dark smudges under his eyes. "What's wrong?"

Charlie smiled at him reassuringly. "Nothing! Just didn't sleep well last night."

"Are you having a bad day?" Nick asked, worry sinking in his stomach.

Charlie shook his head. "I promise I'm not. I would tell you if I was, remember?"

Nick pulled him in close. "I remember, I just wanted to make sure." Nick pulled up the movie and set it to play. "Want anything to eat? Mum just went to the store so we have everything your heart desires."

Charlie shook his head again. "I'm okay."

Nick frowned. "I thought you weren't having a bad day?"

"I'm not!" He curled up a bit and pulled the blankets over himself. "My tummy's feeling a bit off, that's all."

"Off how? Will a cup of tea help?" Nick reached out and brushed his fingers against Charlie's cheek.

"Yeah, that sounds nice, actually." He nuzzled into Nick's hand a bit, wishing he'd crawl in bed with him so they could snuggle.

"Alright, I'll be right back." Nick kissed Charlie on the forehead and dashed downstairs.

Nick had just started the second movie of the day when Charlie started shifting as if he were uncomfortable. Nick looked over, a frown spreading across his face. Charlie wasn't looking well at all. His face had gone from pale to green, and Nick could see the sweat beading up on his forehead.

"Char?"

Charlie sat up and curled in on himself. "I don't feel good," he said, a hand going up to cover his mouth.

"Need to go to the bathroom?"

Charlie nodded, groaning as he scooted towards the edge of the bed. He shivered violently, a tell tale sign that he was going to throw up. He didn't waste any time getting to the bathroom and kneeling in front of the toilet. He could feel his mouth filling with saliva, which meant the vomit was coming in the very near future. After spitting a mouthful of spit into the toilet bowl, Charlie noticed that Nick was there rubbing his back.

"You should go," Charlie said, closing his eyes and leaning over the toilet. He swallowed down a gag so that Nick didn't have to listen to it. Nick was a sympathy puker, so if he was around when Charlie started to heave they would both be throwing up.

"I want to help you feel better," Nick said.

"But if you stay, you'll get sick too," Charlie ground out through clenched teeth. He could feel the vomit creeping up his throat. "Leave." A retch snuck out of him and he heard Nick gag as he quickly stood up and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Once alone, Charlie was able to throw up in earnest, not needing to worry about Nick being nearby to be sick too. In a way, Charlie was glad to be getting it over with. His stomach had been bothering him all night and all morning, but he hadn't felt truly sick until Nick started the second movie.

He shivered, goosebumps breaking out over his skin as he felt another gag working its way out of him. He leaned over the bowl and threw up again, leaving his head there after the heave. He was sure there was more coming, it was just a question of when.

"Doing okay in there?" Nick called from outside the bathroom door when it had been quiet in the bathroom for quite some time.

He heard a flush as a response, and waited patiently until Charlie emerged. He was even more pale than before and shaking like a leaf, but the green color was gone from around his eyes and mouth. "Alright?"

Charlie nodded and shuffled his way back to Nick's bed. He was completely exhausted and wanted nothing more than to curl up under the blankets and fall asleep on Nick's chest.

"I brought in a glass of water for you and moved my waste bin next to the bed in case you need it," Nick said as he trailed along behind his boyfriend. He had folded the blankets back too, so that Charlie could just fall into bed without fussing over the blankets.

Charlie laid back on Nick's pillow and made grabby hands at his boyfriend.

"Want to cuddle now?" Nick asked.

Charlie nodded pitifully. It was all Nick could do to not break out in a smile.

"I brushed my teeth for you," Charlie said quietly once they were snuggled up under the blankets.

"That was thoughtful of you, but not necessary. I'll always kiss you," Nick said. He kissed Charlie's forehead as an example. "Want to watch something?"

"I'd rather just sleep, but you can put something on if you want." Charlie nuzzled in so that his nose was pressed up against Nick's neck.

Nick, who wasn't feeling very sleepy, opened his laptop and hit play. He was sorry that Charlie had gotten sick, but was glad that he felt well enough to snuggle now. "Let me know if you need anything," Nick whispered, unsure if Charlie was already asleep or not.

"All I need is you," Charlie whispered back, snuggling in closer.
